i have an hpi firestorm and I'm having a problem tuning it. as soon as i start it up the wheels would spin. so i checked the clutch spring and it was broken. i replaced it still the same problem plus it wont idle. it starts up fine it just needs a lil throttle trim and it fires right off but when i make the trim nuetral it just cuts off. if i stay on the throttle it will run fine with no problems only when it goes down to idle will it cut off. I've adjusted the hsn to get good top end out of it and the lsn i have adjusted both ways lean and rich 3/4 of a turn and still the same results. I've tried adjusting the idle screw both ways but to no success. so I'm stuck with a car that wont idle and the tires wont stop spinning. what do i do?

You adjusted the idle screw, but have you taken the air filter off and looked down the carb to see where the throttle valve actually stops?
You should have around a 1mm gap when at idle. A paper clip wire is close enough to size to get an intial setting, then you can tune from there. I think that's the first place you should check. Hope that helps

P.S. Is this a new engine or is it fully broken in? Some new motors will have more stalling probs until broken in.

Sounds like your tune is waayyy outa wack. Id set it back to stock and go from there. Just rember small turns think of it as a clock and move it by hours.

I've checked the gap each time be4 trying to tune it. i have already broken the motor in.

I've went back to stock settings each time be4 tryin to tune it and each time same result.

Are you sure you installed the clutch spring correctly? How are the bearings on the CB? Do you have any CB play? It should be able to move about .5mm in and out to allow the bearings to roll freely. If you have it shimmed too tight, the bearings bind and the CB won't stop spinning with the crank shaft.

spring is on correctly. bearings are fine on cb. cb had play in it.
