This is my first rc car kit and I am building a Tamiya TT02. I am using a FS-GT5 transmitter and receiver, a cheap servo I got off of Amazon, and the ESC that came with the kit: TWH-1060-RTR, and a 7.2v NiMH battery

I set the transmitter to the settings the instructions said and plugged the esc to channel 2 and servo to channel 1. When I turn on the ESC it beeps once which the instructions says means that it knows it’s a NiMH battery but it doesn’t make another beep, the light continues to flash and nothing else happens. It doesn’t matter if my transmitter is on or off it still does the same thing.

What should I do to get my car running. Thank you.

Did you bind the Rx to the radio (should already be) and calibrate the ESC? The ESC needs to be calibrated to the radio to work properly.

yeah, it says that the receiver is pre binded. I am very new to this so how do you calibrate the esc?

The procedure should be in the manual.

Thank you. That helps a lot. Also, when you plug the cords into the receiver does the black wire always go to the outside? And do you know where the set button on my ESC is?

Typically, yes, the black wire will be to the outside of the receiver (Rx for short). But it is best to look at the Rx. There should be some info there like S + -. S is signal, which is typically white, yellow or a black wire with a white stripe. You want to make sure that matches where the "S" is in that diagram order.

Look on your power button and see if there is a set button there, next to the power button.

Ok, now when I turn it on w/ the black cord facing the outside of the rx the receiver flashes red and the esc doesn’t do anything.

In the instructions is says for setting the throttle range setting to basically turn on the transmitter
