cuae i didnt already have too much to do lololol
starting the journey of the 2 trx4m's @Doom! gifted my son and i
they are a trx4m bronco(blue)
20251107_112727 (1).webp
and a trx4m bronco defender (grey)
20251107_112745 (1).webp

they both came upgraded slightly in different ways
starting off with the blue bronco, (mine) ( i let my son choose which he liked the most and sadly for me he chose the defender which i also dug lol)
so the blue came with upgraded links already, asa well as brass wheel hex's

and the defender has a set of brass wheel weights as well as brass hex's

off to a good start!

i ordered us both a new injora roverin motor

INJORA Roverin FOC Sensored Brushless ESC & Motor Combo for 1/18 TRX4M Ascent18 (4800Kv)
20251114_155745.webp

same motor for each truck
i ordered a set of

INJORA Brass High Clearance Links Set for 1/18 TRX4M Defender Bronco

this is going to giv the defender the slightest of edges over the bronco but i dont think it will matter really.

we are looking at wheels and tires for the next upgrade
I'm leaning towards the weighted injora set

we are currently waiting on the second motor to arrive so we can do all the upgrades together at the same time! its gonna be effing AWESOME!!!!!!!

my goal is to make mine capable of towing a small overland camper behind, i dont think I'm going to swap either bnody out for the time being, we like em
may personalize them tho for sure
I'm gonna keep updating this thread as we go rather than making a build thread. i dont ever finish anything so its never a completed truck
mine are ALL works in progress of vrying stages.
hell come to think of it i dont have a small 6x6 yet....... muahahahaaaaa

As a trx-4m owner, upgrading to metal diffs is an absolute must! The plastic ones are weak, and can't take a ton of a beating. Theyre like $10 ( or at least when I bought mine, we all know Traxxas is now a bunch of money hungry thevis). Now that I have a 3d printer, I've been thinking about making the stuff to 6x6 convert the thing.

as i was typing that post it hit me that i should be able to print up a 6x6 setuo for it and it got me all excited lol! i enjoy the larger 1:10 scale or 1/5 the smaller trucks have kinda been more of a winter thing for us, and guess what time it is lolol

@Doom! clearly had the ulterior motive of spending your money... :hehe:

Nice itty-bitties.
i told the wife, since doom sent em i dont have to feel bad for throwing pricier motors and such in them than i typically would lol, $$$

did some tinkering on the 4m's over the past few days.
i noticed the defender had a hitch in the driveline. i took the axle apart again and the diff, noticed the gear is missing a tooth!! ordering a new set gonna throw some overdrive in the front when i do to improve the performance a wee bit.

the blue bronco charger got some loving as well.
i threw the roverin motor into the charger since the defender needs a new gear, this roverin motor is awesome!!!! its like a small hobbywing motor for the 18scale

used the injora link app to adjust the speed and reverse of the truck, the app is pretty convinient no lie.
the 4m's are really not a pain to work on other than the size of the screws, dropped one and it no lie took me an hour on my hands and knees digging thru shag carpeting untill i finally found it! woot!! sucess

I use the bottom of a HF magnetic parts holder and rub it over carpet to pick up screws i can't find. or sometines an extendable magnetic tool grabber
I've tried, its shag inch thick its a portal to another dimension lol

Put a pair of pantyhose over the end of your vacuum hose and it will find those little guys in carpet. :thumbs-up:
Never thought of that. But pile on all carpet in house is low, so my magnetic method works. Maybe will use that idea if the piece lost isn't attracted. But then there's the explanation to the wife

Magnets don't pick up stainless steel or aluminum bits, so it's good to have an alternative. :thumbs-up:

o good heavens....
this motor is amazing.
it destroys the factory motor in every category. really looking forward to getting the second for my son, waited long enough on injora to reship the first motor and they are still saying they sent it... i digress
the blue bronco really loves the roverin motor esc
10/10 satisfaction with the motor

we got the new gear in and Vegeta installed it, he understood each step and started getting ahead of himself. i think he just lkiked taking it apart lol he swapped the gear then we put the axle back on. then we realized we fogot to hook up the lower links so we redid the whole thing lololol
good times
the defender still has a LOT of twist, the body definately makes it worse lol,
i swapped the oil out of the defender, added some 50 wt oil to the front shocks, it lessened the twist by a noticeable amount
without the body it is a beast, the large body definately tries to flip her on an incline, we need to get some better tires for it soon
