I am converting my MP7.5 to a truggy & need to lower the gear ratio as much as possible, I've got a 48T spur gear & want a 12T clutch bell.

Anyone seen one for sale anywhere in the UK?

Thanks

Tim.

If I were you I would look for some lightning stadium ring and pinions. They fit on the kyosho diffs and you would'nt have to lower your clutchbell. You will still be overgeared with a 12t if you don't change something else.

I know hot bodies do a 50T spur for the lightning stadium, but I didn't know if it would fit the Kyosho diff.

Where would you buy Hotbodies stuff from?
I can't find anyone selling the spur p/n C8182.

Tim

not the spur the ring and pinion gears that go in the front and rear diffs, If you don't mind ordering from the states here are a few links that have them......

The ebay guy will only ship to the US, bue if you want to have it shipped to me I can ship it out to you for whatever it costs.

Tim, VB has the right idea for th etruggy conversion...you're gearing even w/ a 12t CB and a 48t Spur is only 4:1.....if you're using standard ring/pinion sets you want your primary around 5:1.....lil more or less is fine but 5 is the target ratio for a truggy.....w/o having to mod a bunch of stuff you can do the ring / pinion sets and be done w/ it......

I didn’t realise the ring & pinion gears were different as well.

Just been looking on the Hot bodies website,

The stock Lightning has 43/13 ring & pinion ratio & a 46/13 for the spur & clutch bell.
The Stadium has 43/10 & 50/13 ratio’s this adds up to 8.1461:1 overall.

I’ve got a 48T spur for my Kyosho, so with a std 13T clutch bell I would be getting about 7:1 overall. If I switch to a Hot bodies ring & pinion I would get around 8:1 which should be close enough.

I really glad I posted this, as I would have wasted a lot of time on this. The ring & pinion has a lot more overall effect than the spur & clutch bell.

Thanks guys for the help.

Tim.

as a rul of thumb th esmaller gear on the driving side of the gear train will always have more affect on the ratio......I see alot of guys turning their nice buggies into half assed truggies and wondering why they are always breaking.....geartrains are the biggest PITA to get setup right when you start building a truggy.....

Looking back at my post, I screwed up my calcs as I was summing the ratio’s instead of multiplying them,
The stock Lightning has a total ratio of (43/10)*(50/13) = 16.54:1
A stock buggy for comparison has a total ratio of (43/13)*(46/13) = 11.70:1

Changing to a 48 spur gear would give a total ratio of (43/13)*(48/13) = 12.21:1 this isn’t much of a change!

Changing ring & pinion gears, & using 48T spur will give me a total ratio of (43/10)*(48/13) = 15.87:1 This should be ok.

Hope I haven’t confused anyone!!

Thanks for the advice

I tried to get these bits from UK shops but the dist. was out of stock, so I went to a-main hobbies & a week later I'm sorted. Ordering from the states is pretty painless and I would definately use them again.

Now I can finish my build!

12T Clutchbell

The Ofna Blazer comes with a 12T clutchbell. I upgraded mine to 13T as the HN Force .25 motor has plenty of grunt.
Look on EBay.com (not Ebay.co.uk) and you will find Blazer parts
