does anybody have problems with using an open diff on an off road car/truck. i need to kno for a project I'm doing for school. thx

i dont run them but id imagine performance would suffer because of no oil, grit would get in them getting rid of some efficiency, and they would be much harder to clean

Further off topic...if he doesn't seem to know the answer, then educate him. You may in turn help someone else find your answer. Regardless, do not poke someone in the eye for trying to help and failing...

no there are different kinds of differentials such as an open differential, limited slip differential, and a locking differential
if u need me to explain more about them just ask

Dan, I think most of the r/c's use open differentials. I may be wrong though. Creating a locking differential would seem easier to rig but as far as figuring out a clutch pack system for a limited slip for something this small?, i dunno.

I checked my NTC3 and it is an open differential. No probs running it, if it was a locking differential, it would really get out of shape in a corner. I have enough trouble keeping her straight in a corner and "goosing" her.
