Traxxas UDR Fox Skid Plates Installed

Recently purchased a UDR and based on my experience with my X-Maxx and TRX-4 K5 Blazer—I added strategic “armor” to points where a bit of beef would be useful.

The skid plate kit came with front and rear diff protection (which I installed). It also has flat plates for the belly and battery compartment (adds weight and not necessary as the surfaces are flat and don’t encounter significant impacts.

I’m about to run the UDR and she is flawless—for now, lol.

Lookin' good, I'm curious to see how well they hold up. I've got metal skid plates on my crawlers, so far no problems. (but I'm not hitting things at 30+mph either)

I have similar skid plates on my X-Maxx and have hit things pretty hard at speed—rocks, metal pole (by accident of course). If anything—it is an additional layer of protective steel on top of the plastic.

Here is a photo of a similar front skid plate that tagged a hidden rock at over 30mph with my X-Maxx. I’m convinced that the lower arm would have broken if not for the steel on top of the plastic skid.

Given how heavy the X is, I’m optimistic the UDR plates will be sturdy.

We shall see!
