O ok, maybe it wouldn't look good then, with all the holes in it. Kinda stupid, that they're just for looks.

yea i found that out the hard way.. 12 screws later.. lol

Small visual mod

As much as I like the Summit body, personalization is a fairly important aspect of the hobby for me. I dug up some XXX Main decals I remembered I had bought but never used and the colors were perfect for this truck. I also have some neon green sockshocks but I'm not sure they will fit around those GTR springs.

FYI, when I purchase my batteries tomorrow I'm also going to order 2 smaller spurs (54 and 58 tooth, stock is 68) and an 18T pinion (stock is 14). We'll see how much speed this thing will get with some different gearing. I'll take video of both stock and the fastest gearing at least.

Lessen's 1st run review

This truck is just plain fun. Not overpowered, not underpowered (if equipped well). I'm running 2 7-cell IB5000 packs. I got a solid 15-16 minutes of peak performance on the first charge of these packs in this truck. I ran it a total of 19 minutes. Neither the motor nor my packs were above 130ish when I was finished. That is with stock gearing. It's just about perfect in my 70ft. wide backyard.

Warning: Although bashing with locked diffs is fun, as expected it will tear up your drivetrain. I did break one driveshaft today, and actually it's the front/right, not a rear. Caused by an awkward flip, not an over-abundance of power. No biggie.

Here's a video. It's no masterpiece so cut me some slack :) You can definitely tell where I change from open diffs to full lock and when the half-shaft break happens. Quick enough for my yard but I will experiement with gearing when I replace the driveshaft.

One question: If one were to swap the diff servo leads, would it go from full open - front lock - full lock to full open - rear lock - full lock? I know that's sort of silly for the application of getting over obstacles but it might be kind of fun just bashing around on a loose surface. You can tell from the video that the truck definitely wanted to donut much easier with the rear locked but with the front locked as well it wanted to flip over if I didn't pull out of the throtle in time. I got the timing figured out on that but I bet I could really tear up some donuts with the front unlocked.

it does seem to have a lot more pep on 14 cells. I'm gonna have to get me some new batteries now... thanks...

:)

good vid man, glad you like the rig!

The Tenergy packs last just as long as my IB4200 packs. I have one left of two 3300 Tenergy pack that is 4 years old. i forgot what happened to the other but i know i got a few years out of it too. They have both seen tons of use in 3 different el. 1/10ths and my roto starts and my bump box! They are priced very good as well.
Lesson, the yellow is sweet!

I just love this truck! It's just a fun truck to bash around with. I got it all ready for some winter fun today. I jacked it up real good with ride height and swapped out the stock 68T spur for an itty bitty 54T. I wish I had some video but it was dark out so it wouldn't look very good anyways.

you making me wish i didnt sell mine.. looks like you had a blast!

It IS a blast! Coming down the driveway, hard turn right into the street with just a hair of lift. Letting it all hang out, counter steering to keep her from coming around. Great stuff. The lights are just the icing on the cake. Looks awesome at night :) it's kinda hard to tell how much faster it is with the gearing I put in it but it's certainly significant. I generally avoid running the Summit in the front yard/street because the stock speed is slow for that much space. In my backyard the stock gearing is perfect. I didn't really get that sense of being slow (aka boring). Of course I was driving in 2-3 inches of snow so how can THAT be boring?!

Sweet, glad to see you getting some r/c seat time in the snow. Did I ever mention I love running in the snow? Ran the Savage a bit today in our new 3-4" of powder.

Hi there
I just bought my summit last week and I haven`t ride it outside just afew minutes in the house.Today I realized that the front differential servo doesn`t work when I move the T-lock switch to the middle position,so the front diff doesn`t engage ,but surprisingly when I move the switch to down position both diffs get locked and worked fine.
I don`t know what to do....!!
please someone tell me what is the problem and how can I fix it?

Thanks in advance

that is normal operation on the summit. you have 3 positions open diffs, rear locked, and all locked.

well I think you made a little mistake, we have 3 posotions as followed:
open diffs
front locked
all locked.
However the problem solved by reversing the 4th channel from the t/x.

Thanks anyway
