I dig the hell out of the looks of this truck, but they are hard to find , and when you find one, overpriced!. From all the peeps online it seems that a big fan for the ESC and a big fan for the motor will sooth the overheating issues. I emailed Traxxas as I am sure many have, and asked where I can get one...you all know the answer "we no longer have that model in production"....well DUH!. So I retorted "add a couple fans for the ESC and motor and we have 2.0" . Now we wait.....

It won't shock me to see it back in a few months maybe year or so, with new colors and a functional upgrade or two.
The chassis and overall vehicle in general seem way to new of a product to just drop it.

If the licensing is the issue, then they could bring it back with a more generic body like the stampede or something like that or another licensed brand of truck body on it, like a Silverado or RAM etc. etc.

I have doubts about the licensing being the issue since they are still making the Raptor R bodies, the FOX body Raptor R I have on order is said to be due back in stock next month. That body would be the licensed part with Ford, the chassis has nothing to do with Ford.

licensing agreements are all over the place. traxxas is sneaky, if the Fox Raptor is a replica of a real truck Fox could have a license for merch that traxxas is taking advantage of. playing middleman making/distributing them for Fox.

were both the Raptor R and Fox Raptor R released at the same time? if yes, maybe the Fox version didn't sell as well and is leftover stock. if no, maybe it's a newer/different agreement that had to be written up to include Fox.

or maybe I'm wearing a tinfoil hat and the Fox version just sold better so they put all there eggs in that basket.

As far as I know the fox body version was simply the most popular followed by the black version. Since they have more of both body only parts coming according to website . I am just saying that seems to indicate that licensing is still good. But that’s just my best guess outside looking in,
The chassis is stamped TRX which I thought was funny.

I’ve “heard” a new version is coming. True? Who knows, but that’s not typical for Traxxas from my experience. They usually just make running prouct revisions I thought. It seems like a great rig but for the price I can’t bite, too much for too little.
That’s just me though. If the looks are worth it, then it’s basically a one of a kind. Priceless.
Unrelated but I was recently looking at the possibility of using some E Revo 2.0 parts on another Traxxas rig, so went to TRX site to look up E Revo 2.0 parts list. Gone? No manual, exploded view, nada. WTF? Even Arrma still gives me those things for most discontinued models. Huh.

With the Raptor chassis and shafts and slash suspension parts, you can build one yourself.

I did it w parts from JennyRC.com
Good call, I thought about building one myself but decided I didn’t want to be stuck with the Raptor body. It’s awesome and all, but way too expensive for my budget. Got pics?

The Raptor is coming back as an new Ultimate all Fox model lineup.
Hot off the presses today.

Ultimate Upgrades

Extreme HD driveshafts are beefed up with extra material and overbuilt construction to form a nearly indestructible driveline.

I thought the current Raptor R handled pretty decent for a stock RTR truck.
It is a lot more stable than I had expected.
I had really thought the stretched wheelbase would make it more prone to rolling over, but surprisingly I it seemed pretty well planted.
I have not run any of mine a lot, but so far, I was somewhat impressed with it.

I am really liking the looks of these new ultimate Fox bodied Raptor Rs.

The black body seems to be the same as the original Raptor R fox body.
I am planning to at least pickup one of each of the new bodies the gold / black, and the Orange / black.
If the black orange is actually different from the one, I already have I may have to have one those as well.
First glance it seems to be the same.

Wasn't the raptor just a truck body on a slash?

On the 2wd version yes, just different front bumper I believe.
The R version on the 4x4 platform, technically yes it is on a slash but its extended wheel base making it longer and I'm pretty sure it comes with the 540XL motor now, stock

Yep this is the first 2wd version .

This is the current Raptor R 4x4 LCG longer wheelbase a little wider stance, on and the original 2wd version is standard classic slash underneath, with about the only thing special being the body mounts are different to accommodate the shape of the Raptor body.

Now I'm almost interested. I love the look of the arrma big rock 1/10 but the reviews all say tons of repairs and the 223s 4x4 have tons of reported problems. Now if I could put monster truck tires on a 4x4 raptor IF its longer like the big rock or gorgon.......
