Hi all, now that my Stampede is working great(its lots of fun) I'm looking at light kits. Any suggestions? Are they worth it? I see bumpers with lights built in, roof mounted lights, undercarrage lights, ect. Will they just drain the battery faster and break in a roll over? I am still recovering from loosing my business during Covid and dont have much money so I need to choose options carefully.
Thanks,
Mike

If mounted properly, lights can be solid. If your doing extreme bashing your mileage may vary. As for battery draining, you should not see any noticeable difference as long as your not exceeding your esc's specs.

For bashing, lights tend to not survive. I had the front light pods on my Stampede. The body would contact the wiring slightly, eventually it wore threw them.

I find they're more suited to scale trucks and cars but that's just my opinion.

i used to run a roof light bar and bumper lights on my SC10. if you're going to be running at night a lot they help with visibility. not so much seeing where you're going, but seeing where your truck is. during the day they're useless.
they do get damaged in crashes. anything from the LED's popping out of the housing to ripping off/breaking wires. they do add drain to the battery but it's not super noticeable.
my personal opinion, unless you drive at night/in low light a lot, they're a useless novelty.

I have front and rear lights on one of my 6s Arrma Typhons, they have held up well. I think a lot of it is placement and protection. If I were mounting roof lights on an SCT body I would mount them upside down to the roof in the front window.

RPM has front light sets too.

I think you are likely to damage the lights, no matter the brand but RPM is known for making veey durable plastics.

Might be worth a shot. :thumbs-up:
that's the roof bar i had my SC10. the good is that is does hinge so it "absorbs" some of the crash. the bad is you have to rotate it back where you want it every time you roll over and that constant rotating is hell on the wires where they run through the body.
