My friend gave me a E-Maxx and the wires on the Novak esc the wires were all melted . I up graded the batteries to 2-5200 batteries regular ones . When I run the truck it will stop running and I have to walk up to it for it to go again any ideas what could be be wrong with it?

Is it a first gen unit? 2 motors, 2 batteries? Sounds like that ESC might be junk if the wires are melted. I run 2- 3600 nihm batteries in this. These trucks are heavy and suck batteries down pretty quickly. Especially the older non-lipo ones. This is more of a shelf queen nowadays.

Operates normally at short range? Sounds like the receiver may have a damaged antenna wire or is just going bad.

27mhz was my first thought...

Check what the radio is, it'll be labeled. If its an old am radio with crystals toss that sucker in the trash amd pick up a new radio..

Shelf queen I love mine it is all original including all manuals I don't abuse it I baby it as I know parts are not easy to find. I also have a newer one converted to brushless was running 6S but I am going 8S
