Got the BL2s, installed ir, ran setup. All looked good. Went on track and motor cut off after 4-5 seconds. Dead. Steering working so nit trans/reciever issue. Have heard this happens with older Spektrum radios. Is there a solution, ir am I going to have to replace my Trans & all my recievers (DSM vs DSM2).

Welcome to the RCTalk forum.
Did you calibrate the speed controls throttle?
Speed control LED flashes what when your issue pops up?
Yes. I've been racing RC since 91. I've set dozens of esc's, including many traxxas. Lights go correctly. Put it on the track & hit the throttle. Goes great for about 50 feet. Then no motor. Steering still works so radio is communicating with reciever.

But.... when your problem arises, any LED blinking?

Solder joints good?

In the heat of the moment, racing does weird things to a person. A "professionally built", "meticulously maintained", RC shows up at my doorsteps. I tear it down to see what's what. Missing top shaft spacer, blown/bad bearings, wrong hardware used in spots, weak makeshift drive pins.... things happen.

Good luck.
