I'm not sure if this is the section to post this but hopefully someone can move it to where it does belong if need be.

I'm thinking of buying a MX3 FM transmitter for my Revo. Then turning around and buying a fail safe in a ditch effort to save my self from my self lol I reallize they do make transmitters with built in fail safes but I'm not looking to sink a ton into a radio exspecially being new. My local LHS is getting in a set of these MX3's and selling them for 105.00 w/o the servo(s). That leeds me to my next question...I find the MX3's transmitters all the time for 104.00 - 105.00 range with servo(s). Is my LHS trying to get away with something?

Then my next question is, can the servo that comes with the MX3 be used to turn my Revo into a single servo steering?

Now last but not least, what is a decent child proof fail safe that want break the bank. I'm looking to spend about 20-30.00 bux on the fail safe and about 100.00 - 115.00 dollars for a transmitter.

Just looking to help keep from loosing my Revo which I almost did.

Thanks
Ray

Ray, I use almost exclusively the OFNA mini FS. I have one on my Revo. They should be about 24.00.

Also, the stock servo that comes with the MX3 will not do the job. It barely does the job for a TC steering. For about 40.00 you can get the Hitec 645mg and be done with for awhile.

As to you getting ripped off, I think that might be a game he is playing, but hard to tell without walking in and seeing it myself.

If you can afford it, try going up to the MX3-S. Without servos it can be found for 150.00 or even a bit less.

I'll look into the MX3-S but I would rather spread my money around to include other stuff ;) In a few I'll see if tower hobby carrys this stuff and see about ordering something.

Thanks for the help.

One more quick question on the MX3 transmitter...how hard is it to swap over to it on my Revo? My Hobby shop told me the airtronics works backwards and I would have to adjust my servos. I'm sure it's not hard to do but just wanted to get some different feed back on it.

Thanks again
Ray

I guess they don't want to sell it that bad to you! The least the could do is show you.

It is real easy. On the screen on the left you will see several little boxes. Move the top left cursor button until it gets to "servos", turn your steering left and right, if that is in proper left/right order, hit the cursor again until it shows throttle, test throttle and brake, and if that is right you are ok. I any of them are going the opposite direction of your Tx input, hit the lower left cursor button once and it should say "REV', meaning it has reversed your servos for you. You have the same capability on your TQ3 Traxxas tx as well, it is those three little switches at the very bottom.

Install of the Rx is a bit tight, but not very complicated. No biggee, we can get you through it.

Ya, I drive about 25 miles one way to end up with a questionable LHS :juggle: There maybe a light at the end of the tunnel...the current owner of the LHS is selling out to someone who maybe easier to deal with. I keep telling my self I should have bought the place lol

Anyways, thanks for reminding me about the switches on the radio. I forgot all about how you can reverse the servos with them. The LHS dealer didn't have any transmitters on hand except an M 11 which I'm not sure how close it would be to an MX3 on how to set up servos...either way he never mentioned what you said or offered to show me using the M11. The guy simply said I would have to pop the servo deals off the truck and turn the wheels or something like that. I can't help but wonder if he didn't want me to know so I would have to pay him to do it:ponder2: Oh well, I think I'll order it through Tower Hobby anyways since I need to order some other stuff also.

Now before I forget, what the heck is a RX anyways lol I hear people talking about it but I'm still lost on it.

Thanks for the help and support
Ray

Rx is short for receiver, the little box on yoru truck connected to the antenna and servos.

Isn't Texas a hanging state? This guy is either completely clueless or the biggest jerk I have heard of, except for kurtf5. No, no, no, no need to touch any part of the truck, all controls are in the MX3 or MX3-S Tx screen. I am not familiar with an M11 but it works in principle the same way. Screen and button layout is different but function is technically the same.

Thank God you have the internet. Your LHS would have screwed you good.

Ya, the internet makes life easy for us folks in small deprived towns like mine. You still have to becarefull on it though. I mean it's kinda of a PITA to figure out who's really on the level and people like me, who thinks they know it all but doesn't lol

Anyways, I'm pretty much through with my LHS. It's a non stop deal with this guy. I'll set back and wait for the new owner to take over but will still have to buy basic stuff like fuel from him.

I'm kind Kijecking my own thread here but do you know what wheels will fit the Revo using the Proline Moab tires? I'm looking like crazy on Tower Hobby but I can't figure it out. I find the wheels/tires but nothing says if they'll work on the Revo? Just trying to order all this stuff at once...maybe get that 30.00 off deal they got going on ;)

Thanks
Ray

Ray, I am kinda out on a limb here. but from what I have read and seen on seller's sites, the Moab will work for a Revo on the ProLine Beadlock wheels, and they have two series, a regular and a narrow, the narrow being for rock climbing, I think.
