At the moment I'm building a bed rack for my tf2. I'm using 1/4 metal for the base. I. Trying to recreate the one thats already mounted ro my truck. I believe its near the exact shape i just need to cut it and do minor adjustments. The silver bar is what i want to use as the bars that go across each side. I believe its 1/8 thick. Ill keep you guys posted

I've meen wanting to try making something out of metal tubing. Honestly I know nothing about working with metal, and would have to do some research. This is cool. :thumbs-up:

Thanks

I've been having some fun but of course its not perfect. I've cut it slightly uneven and i need to shape the roll bar more. If i force it in it looks more normal though

Jusy made more modifications. I straightened the bottom part where is was bent and made a sharper bend higher up. @Doom! still a lot of work but I'm making progress slowly

I've been busy for the last 2 weeks but I've finally finished the second roll bar

Time to drill and tap them and to find a beam to go between them
Cut it off the beam its not perfect but i can always adjust it later

Been a while. I havent thought of anything and since winters starting i can't go outside to drive i figured i should finish it. I bought some 22Ga sheet metal and cut it out so it would fit in the bed.

I was going to drill holes in the bars at the bottom but it was a safer bet to weld it to metal.

I welded the bars to the metal and its pretty even and straight. The front roll bar is a little higher so i'll have to somehow bring it down.

I have the bars i will connect to the 2 roll bars but i forgot to take photos of them. I have 1 cut and need to do small adjustments to get the other fit. In total i will have 6 bars to.

This i smy first timw doing something like this so i mihht have to redo one in the future

I think this is what i'll do for both sides and on top i will but the bar on top of it then weld it into place instead of inbetween. Still undecided what do you guys think about it. I think i'll bring it higher and level it out.

Done 1 side. I had to go to a hardware store to buy new dremel disk to cut it. I do like it when its higher. I believe its even ill end up painting it black once I'm done.

Finished the other side too. I perfer this side as i think i made better welds. On to the top now. I think i will to the same thingbut i will put 2 instead of 1 of course

I just finished it I'm pretty happy with how it looks. Of course i could improve on some thing but as a first attempt i am content with the results. I could always through i cloth of some sort to replicate a soft top bed cover. I'm going out for a walk tomorrow i just hope that i can bring it out and drive it. I will redo the paint as its quite rough but other than that i will probably leave it untouched

Its a little bit heavy for my current suspension. I already have springs in them. Do you have a suggestion do help resolve it
