there is something nice and therapeutic about building a Kyosho kit... it all just goes together perfectly.
This is true. When I can just sit and wrench on my car for a while, its almost always fun! Far more than I can say for working on the 1:1's where they NEED to be fixed at least!
I was blown away at the difference between my Tamiya Hornet and Blackfoot vs the Kyosho Turbo Optima kits.
Tamiya seems to come from a scale model background. Their kits are fun and imaginative. Some are certainly race oriented but not the Hornet and Blackfoot. They were a lot of fun and I learned a lot with them. I still have them and will restore those too. Tamiya will always be a favorite of mine because their kits always seem to find the 'kid' in me. I hope to get hack to building a few of them that I've missed out on over the years too.
I felt like the Kyosho kit was more race oriented despite the cute little 'kid' in the instruction manual who helped point out special instructions on some steps.
The quality of the plastic, sounds silly to say, but it required very little sanding or finishing where parts are removed from the 'parts tree'.... the quality is really good!!!
The Kyosho 'gold' shocks were by far the nicest I'd ever seen or owned. They were (still are) silky smooth!

The 240ST Lemans motor almost made me cry!

An RC car driven by chain?!?!?! OMG!!!! I was helpless from the start! Totally in love with that car!!! That one is all Hot Trick'd and in need of refinishing as well I bought a new chassis plate and a shock tower for it not too long ago. Its happening, slowly.
The cars as assemblies were absolute monsters!!! About the only thing that would stop mine was a good smack to the wall at full tilt!
I was young and not a great driver... It saw more than a few walls during its race career!
When the Mid was released, I was ALL over it!!!
I wanted a Maxxum FF REAL BAD too!!! They make cars that made me want to go fast!
Kyosho is an exceptional race buggy manufacturer!
This 'Special' is another amazing example of their quality!
