Has anyone, or is it possible to use 22X front hubs and spindles on a 22 5.0?
In a qualifier today I sheared one of the hinge pins for the spindle for the hub. Luckily I had a fresh new pack of front hinge pins. 1st spare when tightening down the locknut, threads sheared off just like what happened when I was driving. 2nd spare went ok smoothly. I have no more spares and they're prob discontinued anyways knowing Whoreizon. These pins are WAY too THIN for a 1/10 buggy. They use a 4mm locknut. I had to search in my Mini B screw kit to find one as its the only other car of mine that uses tiny sizes like that. Took a look at my buddies 22X and I noticed that they redesigned it to use 2 screws in each direction and a caster hat bushing like my AE B74. Any ideas, fixes, modifications? Before I plan to swap to Associated?

*Just want to find a more durable alternative/fix so I can actually race this winter season without any troubles but Horizon says otherwise.

I like the name play on horizon! Also, sorry to derail, but is anyone else seeing the falling leafs across their screen when they scroll to the top of the forum page?

Oh no not the thread derailer! 🤣😆🙃

Leaves and hats for Thanksgiving/fall 🍁 🍂 😉

DERAILER!!! Make like a tree and leave! 😲🤣

So its not actually the hinge pin for the control arm, but the steering kingpins that are getting broken? 🤔

Having the threads shear off just by snugging down a lock nut is so wrong. Possibly a bad batch of steel? You don't think it's a lot of parts to try incorporating into your durability gameplan? Since the kingpins can be found, I'd just buy replacements and hope to get some good batches before jumping ship. After market kingpin/hinge pin sets out there?

Sorry I was blowing out tge hallway. 🤪🫠🙃

Yea the king pins that go up into the hub for the spindle correct. Ones with the tiny ahh lock nut. It's nuts. 😆
I agree, I'd buy a set of new ones.
Are they just M3 pins? If so, hardened pins are avail. Just gotta find them. 😉😎

I believe they are M2.5mm king pin/shoulder screws even though the manual says 2.45mm.

Man... I'm so out of it I didn't even think about looking through the manual lol.

Ya. They are way to thin for a 1/10 buggy. Period. Why did they use a thin pin like that? Probably to get more money so people keep buyin em. Scammers... 😆🤦
