Ok..i'm very new to this...and so far i've found the biggest challenge next to vibrating screws that loosen ...is priming the engine. It takes me forever to get fuel to the engine...once i do it usually fires right up. I've noticed that dropping a drop in the carb usually helps. Does anyone have any tips on the best way to prime a nitro engine? Thanks!

Put your finger over the exhuast and turn over the engine! It only takes a few turns to get fuel to the engine!

Has anyone ever heard of puttin your finger over the carb. ??? i did this once an it primed REALLY quick, but the next time i tried it it didnt prime @ all...

I wouldn't use the "finger over the carb as you can easily drop dirt down the carb. Plugging the stinger of the exhaust is sufficient and you won't have to put the air filter back on and then sip tie it. stinger is the best way.

I used to do that, putting my finger over the carb. What's bad about it is that dirt can get in easily. Another trick is to get another length of fuel tubing. Disconnect the pressure tubing at the fuel tank, plug in the second tubing ... blow till you see the fuel hit the carb, replace pressure fitting and start the car. Otherwise, stick youf finger over the stinger to prime.

you can always just pinch the fuel tubing but it seems that plugging the stinger is better. Fuel travels to the carb faster.Lol

Go figure

get yourself a primer bulb for the monster gt,it works great and acts like a resevoir for when you flip the truck over or your tank runs low on fuel.can't get much easier than that.
PRIMER BULB

the primer looks pretty handy, but i start my cars with the body on so fuel tubing access is limited.

I'm another vote for cover the stinger as you turn the engine over.

Yup, plug the stinger, and you will see the fuel move through the line. You also hear a slight difference in the engine if you are using a starter.

Pinching the fuel line STOPS the fuel from getting to the carb, but if you have a starter and you flood the engine, rather than take off the glow plug, hold the car upside down, spin the starter to purge out the fuel, you just pinch the line till the engine fires up. While the starter is spinning the engine, It will spit the excess fuel out the pipe, without any new fuel entering the cylinder. Don't let go of the pinched line till the engine has run for at least a full second. It will now be running right.
