This is why you don't buy Traxxas...

Go read traxxas forum, in the last week there has been no less then 4 people who all have broken there Revo 2.0s..

theres a slew of other new members posting issues as well, the whole forum is just filled with pissed off traxxas owners, one guys like something to the effect of this shits a money pit can someone help me from going broke lol

There stuff is toy grade imho and they recycle designs from 20 years ago with minor improvements if you can even call them improvements..

there cars are over priced by at least 100$ on every car, some even more like the xmaxx.. thats not worth 900 fiddlesticking dollars are you poopy me?

the UDR is another prime example.. Your paying for a name but not getting the quality that name may have ment In the past but no longer does.

There a mass producing china sourcing company whos greed and shortcuts are going to cost this whole industry as people get frustrated and broke and end up saying screw this hobby.. I was on that line my self till i gave it one more shot with arrma, boy am I glad I stuck it out, arrma saved my ass and my wallet. And there friggin way cheaper!
Honestly same here i was only ever using traxxas i was never able to drive 1 full battery i read someone's comment in a video saying he was about to quit the hobby from being so frustrated but decided to give arrma a shot he said it saved him from quitting the hobby all together and honestly it's the same with me

Bummer @Sledgehog. Perfect time for upgrades now :)

I'm not Traxxas fan myself and haven't been for a while (though I do enjoy my two Stampede's) but to be fair this forum is filled with people who broke their Arrma's as well. No manufacture is immune to parts failure.
But i think there's a difference between when you actually bash it and when you just look at it wrong and it breaks lol

That's honestly good to hear because i had a 2wd ruckus it wasn't horrible but i wasn't impressed they just have improved its been like 3 to 4 years since lol
We had a hug thread over on URC about what the best 1/10 2wd monster truck was and it was pretty unanimous that the Stampede was the least durable between the 2wd Granite, 2wd Ruckus and 2wd Stampede.
Each of the models has its positives and negatives, but the plastic that Ecx uses is more forgiving than the Traxxas plastic.
By the end of the thread we all pretty much agreed that the Proline Pro MT was the best 2wd monster truck.

That's awesome that they're upping their game so basically traxxas is the middle child now

ECX Trucks are kind of hard to break. Mostly because the plastics is about as stiff as wet noodle. I really think that is why my Torment breaks driveshafts - the rear arms just flex too far in a crash, the the u-joint binds and breaks. I think this because I have the same number of breaks on a 20t brushed motor as I did on a 3300kv brushless motor. IMHO, the driveshafts are fine, the arms just flex too much.

The only part of my Torment that I feel was a 'problem' was the front axle carrier - the soft plastic strips easy, so you lose a kingpin / shoulder screw. ECX has an aluminum part that fixes that issue, though. Axle carrier and C-hub are the only upgrades to my Torment. Maybe someday, I will swap in some HR driveshafts, but they don't break that often, so...
Yeah not sure what Ecx was thinking with the front axle carriers, even the Rpm ones aren't really good. I ended up with Hot Racing c-hubs and axle carriers on mine. I also have Rpm a arms on the front because I ran into a landscaping timber and snapped one of the stock ones.
The servo saver is also another weak spot on that platform, I did like fyrstormer did and just bought another servo saver and double stacked the spring clips. I updated that eventually with the Rpm servo saver eliminator.

I've actually had better luck with our Rustler and 2WD Slash than with our Sentons so far... but I think a lot of these breakages come down to luck to be honest. I've launched the Rustler 15 feet out of quarterpipes at the skatepark dozens of times without issues, then broken parts rolling over on pavement. One thing I have noticed is that cold temps make all of the plastics really brittle... which is unfortunate since we live in Canada.

The thing that moved me from Traxxas to Arrma personally was the proprietary BS with the batteries and chargers. I got sick of that approach in the mountain bike industry so I'm not supporting it with my money in this hobby.

should be like the red headed stepchild that gets his ass beat daily for being a pos! :D
I think he's the stepchild that got too much attention and when it was time to go out in the real world, he couldn't hang with the tougher kids so he decided to try to cheat to win rather than shine on his own merit. Since cheaters never win in the long run, they end up losing to the guys that try harder.

Wish i could double like lol

Of course, I don't disagree. But EVERY time I take out either of my Traxxas vehicles it breaks or has an issue of some sort. When I take my Arrma out I have the confidence that I'm going to have fun with it and maybe something might break on the off chance. When I take my Traxxas out I literally have the attitude of "what's going to break today, and how much is it going to cost me."

Almost every thread I've seen of people breaking their arrmas here was either:
1) An electrical failure which happens with any electrical product. I work in PC warranty and see firsthand even the most expensive parts aren't immune to manufacturer defect or other variables.
2) it was freakin cold out.
3) They were bashing the thing super hard, taking large jumps, etc.

My Traxxas vehicles break while running them in flat dirt parking lots sometimes. lol. The plastic they use is super cheap and flimsy (which is why most people RPM or aluminum the crap out of them out of the box). The electronics are super cheap with boards outsourced by the lowest bidder. The price for their cars is ridiculously high for what you actually get, and as mentioned previously, their support is BS, specially for a company that touts itself as making "entry-level" vehicles. Most people who call them don't have the knowledge to fix things themselves. All this is besides the point they bring frivolous lawsuits against other companies that might be competition for them, and give rc shops tons of benefits to not only promote their brand, but to bash others. I've seen this firsthand in many of the shops around here, specially when you ask for Arrma or another popular company. Just look at the guy who was just posting about the shop changing his esc on his new Arrma to a Traxxas connector "for free." Think that was maybe because they want to push Traxxas batteries on him? Why is that ya think, :D
It's just a poopy brand overall and again, I'd hate to see a newcomer coming back into the hobby waste literally hundreds of dollars like I did or have a severely disappointed kid when they give them a new Traxxas. I honestly had no idea they were this bad until I tried another brand myself and got into the racing scene and frequented local tracks that I found out, oh, it's not supposed to be like this. it's literally like the people who repeatedly buy Apple products regardless of all the well-known technical issues (which are 100% Apple's design faults) and poopy business practices and swear by them simply because they don't know any better.

/rantend :D

I enjoy my traxxas trucks, and my HPI's, and my Losi's... and my arrma.

Everything has a limit and honestly, I've spent more time working on my outcast than the stampede 4x4 I use to jump/run in the exact same places. The stampede is lighter, so the damage is less and I run it just as, if not harder than my outcast. I'd never jump my revo's this hard, they can't take it.

I haven't had any bad experiences with my stock Stampedes, it's when they have had aluminum upgrades that they have given me problems.

I certainly don't need convincing. Sold my E-Revo 2 at a big loss just to get it gone. I kept the Slash because I have way too much money in it to get any worthwhile cost in return. MIP cvds, Proline shocks, Robinson Racing tranny, front and rear knuckles, new body, etc... It's now a shelf queen or one I loan the new drivers with the throttle turned way down. Glad it only took two and a Redcat MT10E to get me to Arrma and I'm hugely Arrma loyal now.
See that monster slash in this pic? Your looking at 1500$ and was still breaking... Traxxas, NEVER again!

Exactly! I'm in the same boat. I'm keeping mine but only for nostalgia... and because it was my first truck. I think it's almost bulletproof now but scared to really test it. Also, I reckon it's a monster slash now. 2wd but not a scary monster. Kind of a hipster-bitch monster that looks better on the shelf with tampax watching my Arrma rigs really blast. lol
I had a kid jumping it 3 feet high and 5 feet long yesterday and rolling over and seems to be holding up. lol ??‍♂️
