yeah those are totally sweet! I've seen those in videos before and they seem awesome with scale performance as well. Unsure why more builds arent using these.

Probably has something to do with them being so expensive 😉

I keep waiting for the price to come down to something reasonable.

It's larger than the claimed 1/10th scale too. It's more like 1/7th to 1/5th scale. I've scoped it out to be doable in a 1/7th scale.

JohnnyQ90 has some videos of his project out there and he's quite far along in it. He's also installed the supercharger, but it looks like he needs to do some work on the belts and exhaust yet. No videos or word on how the car performs. It's only got about the same claimed HP as a decent .28/.32 nitro, and it's considerably heavier and the car overall would be a lot heavier. However, the upside is that the supercharger *should* work, and you should be able to add a true nitrous system and upgrade the cam and maybe really get a good energy density (but probably at the cost of breaking a lot of Chinesium parts every time you run).

It's intriguing though.

I have seen couple builds with this 4stroke Chinese engines. In my opinion they are made just to be show peace and to run on a stand. It's not only that they are dog slow, anyone who tried to use them to power something faster than a crawler was breaking crankshafts

I beg to differ. The Toyan engines have been around a long time. This guy has done a bunch of builds using them.

Dennis has been on the forefront of Toyan builds. If you want any info on them, he's the man to contact. You can message him on FB also, and he will respond. Really cool dude.

Damn, that was cool as hell. Not very fast, but seemed geared down quite a bit, or maybe the clutch wasn't engaging early enough. However, the throttle response was pretty damn impressive.

I have my Toyan full tube chassis car still yet to finish
Sure you know what I’m talking about Wickedfrog

Yeah, that's gonna be a sick build.

The first RC V8 I remember was built by a guy named Gary Conley.

He had a website called conleyprecision if I remember correctly, but it has since been shut down. He sold a 1/4 V8, shown in the car above, and it was so badass that Chrysler contacted him and asked him to build a 1/4 scale Viper V10, which he did.

I used to follow his work years ago, when I was still machining. I am not sure whatever happened with him, but man, he built some badass stuff. I just found this, and haven't read through it all, but it looks to be very interesting.

Conley build parts and full scale V8 builds are awesome!!! Love to have or build one. Cost is about 6k to do full Conley. The machine work is priceless. Cams, crank, heads, valves, pistons, ect. All custom machined. Blows my mind how to do 1/4 scale to that level.
All the water jackets and way to do have the skills to do it I’m so impressed
Have you seen the Cobra build?

Funny, I was looking at that article and the name of the museum seemed like something I had already "bookmarked" in my brain.

Then I remembered this article https://craftsmanshipmuseum.com/artisan/thomas-garing/ posted in this thread https://www.rctalk.com/forum/threads/crane-model-build.136242/ in the scale forum. I've been through Carlsbad a couple of times and now have a reason to stop next time.
