This is a pretty good review, except the guy obviously has no idea what the dual rate is for on the steering channel. And yeah, that thing is a rocket in high gear! Holy cow.

So there are a few things I don’t like about mine: the battery compartment barely fits the stock battery and is extremely tight. The motor cogs like hell at around 25-30% throttle, I assume due to coming out of FOC. The biggest problem, though, is as far as I can tell there is absolutely no drag brake whatsoever.

Grab a Furitech Lizard ESC and that should fix that.

I noticed that the battery compartment looked snug. Welcome to the forum. :)

I would source a smaller pinion. That thing is way too fast, and too small to go that fast, unless you're driving it over very smooth terrain. Let's face it. A pebble is a boulder to these little guys. And you wouldn't hit a boulder with any kind of speed. And a smaller pinion may alleviate the cogging a bit 😉

Agreed Agreed Agreed. The battery is tight, my son has this idea to print a different cover that comes down at an angle and that would allow us to fit a bigger battery. I dont like how the battery only has a balance plug.
A furitek Lizard would solve any cogging and drag brake issues. I have yet to test this little guy out.

I haven’t mentioned it but, I really like the tx. It’s just easy to use. One button and you are changing steering modes. It is shown right there on top.

The battery sits right on top of that esc. If it were about half the size……
I have done this before, where I plugged in my Furitek Lizard into the scx24 v1 esc to continue using the stock radio system. This will be a similar scenario I think.

As of right now, I cannot bypass the esc and add a furitek. I would need a plug adapter for the motor or direct solder them in. I don’t want to do that right now. I also wouldn’t be able to use the lights, I would need ph to rx type connectors or solder something up. Don’t wanna do that right now either.

How about now? Do you feel like it now? 😜

They make it hard to ditch that remote don't they? But there are better remotes out there.
Seems to becoming a common theme amongst cheaper RC's lately. Even when the electronics seem good for the price, there always seems to be a catch, like having no easy way to add better electronics without ditching almost everything.

It's why I stopped buying SCX24's. If you plan to upgrade them fairly heavily, it's just cheaper to buy everything instead of a RTR.

If these take off, they will be the same.

Looks like a lot of metal in there, should hold up if the metal is not too soft.

I eluded to a breakage in another unrelated build I have going so I figured I should update here.
My son, the destroyer, was driving the ucx24 unsupervised and brought it back to me saying a tire was loose. Well, it was actually down to 3-wheel drive. He somehow snapped a universal shaft to a front wheel. I don’t know how he managed it.

Good news, I have found replacement parts on Amain.

Well now. That is saying something if Amain is selling parts for this little guy already.

I also spoke to Helidirect about selling them. Kinda surprized they don't already, as I told the guy I was talking to. They said they are going to look into the UDI stuff.
