I'm tempted to build one. I just blew another transmission on my mower. And I'm tired of seeing snake skin that is every bit of my 6.5 foot frame.

This is an awesome build!! I always wanted to do something like this so I could stand in the shade and not get sunburn!! I was always hung up trying to think how to make a self propelled work. How to get it to reverse and skid steer. I cannot believe no one makes these, I mean the kids would love to cut the grass. This hybrid system mower and scooter is the way to go.

Theyre out there for purchase but I think the cheapest one I ever saw was $2700 and they just skyrocket from there.

As for how it moves, each rear wheel and motor is off of a mobility scooter. The two motors are controlled by a control board similar to what is used in the mobility scooters. I have a video that sort of explains the electronics part of it. Someone had asked me about that before.

I hav a Scag 61 mower (like the ones they use to mow stadiums with) It has a single 18hp motor that runs a 5 gear trans and the blades off a belt system. It weighs more than my Focus so I figure pulling the motor/tank and trans to swap for motors `nd batteries might be doable one day.
This is a great idea! How has it been working for you?

It only saw operation for about 4 mows. The front end needs larger casters on it, which would require a major rework of the front end. I might have done it had I not decided to go ahead and pull the trigger on a new zero turn. Now the Lawntoy just sits in my shed, neglected, lol.

Holy Moly!!! Lol! THAT'S a monster!!!
I am using a battery powered Toro walk behind that is AWESOME for my needsc. The battery dies right around the same time I'm worrying that I might be dying!
Then we both break to recharge!
The r/c mower has great potential!!!
