Audi (the german car brand) has a sub-brand that's called AUDI (yes it's in caps that's the only difference in naming). The latter is a China-exclusive brand that sells electric cars NOT based on a VW platform. The former still sells their cars in China.

apparently Mugen Seiki cars aren't made in Japan anymore but in Taiwan instead, was looking at packs of spare parts and noticed the packs now say 'made in Taiwan'

oh well at least the excellent fit and finish is still there, and the cars themselves are competitive on the track/fun to drive and tough as bashers

I notice Taiwan on a fair number of Kyosho packages too.
I have no complaints at all about a LOT of Kyosho parts. Fit and finish is always at least as good as the parts in the original kits.

I think there are some really nice RCs coming from Japan lately!

I remember you said that your box was from China. I still haven't found anything other than Kyosho titanium hinge pins that were made in China.
I usually check the labels.

I am watching to make sure Kyosho doesn't tank in quality, no matter the country of origin.

The most recent Kyosho boxes I have are a pair of Mad Wagons. Both made in Taiwan.

They are 30% assembled but I see no metion of where there were assembled.

promo material for the MP11(e) indicates their fancy-schmancy race stuff is still made in japan

no idea about their older vehicles like the neo 3.0 (which to my knowledge is based on the MP777/MP7.5)

I grabbed a couple old (1980's) parts bags when I looked at the Mad Wagon packaging. Both of those bags said 'made in Japan'.

I don't own any Kyosho models, 'Egg' or Mini Z rc cars. They are a huge part of Kyosho and I haven't any idea where those are made.

From what I've seen, all of Kyosho's products are exclusivly made here on earth. ;)
