Okay.. breath..
I spend a ton at my LHS, a literal ton. I am there almost everyday. I have them bring things in for me regularly, they're an A Main distributor in Canada so I can bring things in without tariffs.
They're the only game in town and have treated me decently in recent times.
A few visits ago the owners wife was informing me I may have to start paying for items I have brought in. It was such an awkward conversation because she was kind of patting herself on the back but also reminding me that the service could be revoked at anytime. (So you're not charging me then?? But its no dice next time?? I am confused)
The other day I pick up some silicone inserts for one of my trucks, I grabbed mismatched to see which I liked. It turns out neither, I only opened one.
I sent them an email with photos. No reply.
Today is two business days later so I follow up via phone, they're standing behind their no return policy. She's like, "I know we have returned things before, but I don't know. You know the policy."
The thing is, I don't want the money, I want to buy other things.
She's like, "well now we'll have an inventory mismatch".
I said that's "not true, I took a mismatch so bringing one back would give you a full set."
The stammering and stuttering turned into me just saying, "okay, you can stand behind your policy. If this was online I would be able to just send it back."
She began telling me about online returns and that "I would have to pay". I said "I can take things to my local corner store, they do Amazon returns, most companies give you a post office return slip. It's really not a big deal.
I cannot believe they're going to choose these to make a stand on.
I needed two packs of SLW hardware, just ordered it from eBay instead. Saves me the drive to the slums.
Part two: The owners wife reached out with an offer, she'll accept them back with a 15% restock fee to cover their time. Are you serious? Your time? I just said thanks for calling me back.
