So my power went out Friday around 5:00. Restoration estimate 4:30 Saturday. That came and went now estimate is 9:00 Sunday. Guess what? Generator ran out of gas at 8:00! I go get gas, check to find the latest update... 12:00 pm Monday! I'll have to fill my gas cans again tonight!
I'm getting a Generac standby before snow flies again...

Sorry about your situation. I find it funny this was advertised on the next page.

My daily rant. Fireworks used to have a strong manly scent of gun powder. I've noticed a few years ago it disappeared.

Drove hour and a half home in this and not even a slight gun powder scent.

you should have been at my house then. fireworks of any kind are illegal in my city. but the places goes off like a warzone. from 7:30 to to well after midnight that gun powder smell you seek was strong. somebody maybe 1/3 of a mile away was shooting stuff off in the air (fireworks that shoot up in the air or explode are illegal in the entire state) that looked professional.

id say i slept like crap last night, but that would imply i slept. my stomach felt over pressurized and was cramping up bad. had to lay a certain uncomfortable way to make it tolerable. finally dozed off about 2am. then my bladder woke me up at 4am. took a wiz that i didn't think would ever stop. stomach still feeling not great went back to bed. finally dozed back off about a quarter to 5. then my alarm clock scared the hell out of me at 5:35. stomach feeling basically normal.
then i get to work and there's so much crap for stock i can't even comprehend it.
and it's muggy as hell.
and i already have a headache.
todays going to both suck and blow.

Happy freakin' Monday.
Power's still out, last estimate was noon today and it's 12:20.
I just topped off my generator for the 4th time now, that's +/- 30 gal now.
Came back in to a new text update.
9:00 pm TOMORROW!! 🤬🤬

Damn. That must have been some weather?
Yup.
Heavy wind, downpour, hit and run thunderstorm.
Lasted 10 minutes, sun was back out in 5.
That's when the power went out - 5:35 pm Friday.

Ahhh!
Power came on 1/2 hour ago.
All quiet in the holler again!
I get some good snow here....when it's ice.....that's when bad this happen like that. We lost it the other day too but only for a bit. When my boy was still in diapers and my daughter was maybe 5. We lost it for two weeks in the middle of winter. That was tough, but gotta be ready for it or it's even more tough.

I prep my generator every fall with the snow blower. Non-optional equipment here.
Gen-Rac sounds nice but our gas job is cheap and portable.
Generator saved our butts a couple times with week long outages.

I didn't have a generator at the time. I had a turkey fryer to melt snow for water. A camp stove for cooking and we have forced hot air from a wood furnace in the basement. I can open up the air handler on the furnace to let it work on convection.

The house used to have a cistern that was constantly naturally feed. This was something that was long unused....long before I bought the place. But everything was still there in the basement for the cistern. Till some basement modifications and upgrades. Now....I have a pipe....that has a valve....that comes out of my basement wall....that probably somehow comes from the stream just off the property......there is always water, power or not. I've checked it even in the dead of winter and there's water with good pressure coming out. It's pretty sweet.

even with as tired as i was yesterday. i didn't sleep for 💩 last night. went to bed at about 9:30 and couldn't go to sleep for nothing. finally fell asleep about 11:30. woke up at 1am. back to sleep about a quarter to 2. then decided to wake up the alarm clock at 5:30. 🙄
