If it cracked from the edge, and there is no visible impact, it could be the metal seam the sealant is stuck to is exposed. An exposed edge there could easily crack the windshield. Where is the crack originating from?

Yep, no impact mark anywhere. Started from the bottom of the windshield on the passenger side almost directly in front the passenger seat.

Yeah, I would bet it was installed improperly. There is a bit of an art to it. I've only installed a few, but every time I have, I have noticed there were areas that could cause a crack if I didn't get the sealant laid down properly. But of course, the only way you're going to be able to prove that is to be standing there when they pull the windshield out.

They get all weird about stuff like that. If it comes from the factory that way they will cover it. But if it's an add on they won't. I guess there is too much shoddy workmanship from aftermarket installs.

I saw in the news about insurance companies, jack the prices up on your home. Or just leave certain communities. . How bad is that?

I don't watch the news, but I still have insurance, and it's no worse than anything else in this state.
