So, I blame peer pressure for this one. I actually almost called it the Peer Pressure Project. LOL A couple of friends have slowly lured me back into RC over the past year or so. So we all decided to a 1.9 build off virtually, as we're all in different parts of the US. Why it's called The Cheat will all be revealed as the build goes on. We got home later than anticipated last night, but I did get the Injora LCG chassis opened, and started sealing the edges of the CF. More to come.

I like where this is headed!

Also, I haven't seen someone seal CF in a while. Map props OG! 🤣
Probably not needed these days. But old habits die hard.

Nice!!!
I still seal my CF too. It looks good when its done right too! 😎👍

How is a moderator of an RC forum not into RC? Does not compute...
I've been doing it for over 30 years. I kind of just got burnt out at one point between multiple ground and air rigs to get ready every week for weekend play time. I think the only thing I haven't done is boats, but I'm not close to a lake, so.

Still waiting on a few parts for the chassis, so I figured I'd go ahead and knock out wheels and tires tonight. The new screwdriver came in handy with 36 bolts per wheel. Had enough torque to seat the beadlocks too.

First, ditch the old foams

And install the modern silicone inserts. Waterproof, better sidehill support, etc.

Wheels are a true two piece beadlock from Injora, with SLW hub pattern. Hubs included, didn't measure offset, sorry.

All done

And Swampers because they just work here on the east cost.

So, I finally made some headway last night. And this is where the project name The Cheat comes from. I’ve had this comp crawler sitting in the garage for awhile, I just never run it as there are no comps around here anymore. So I stole all the equipment from it for this build instead. So, I didn’t have to buy the majority of it, and the front axle setup should give me some cheater points in steering angle.

So I started out with this to tear down.

Front and rear axles removed

This is the big thing I wanted from the comp rig. My hybrid axle I built. AR44 housing cut down to accept AR60 knucks and chubs, brass beef tubes, Locked up RC F1 spool, shaved Axial CVD drives, and of course overdrive gear set.

Powerplant removed. Holmes Hobbies torquemaster 35T motor

Down to bare frame. I may have stuff to put this back to some use in the garage at some point also.

Let’s build some links

Starting on the chassis, this was the state of things pretty much all evening LOL

I got to here as a stopping point. I knew I didn’t have a few parts from an Axial SCX10 kit, so I’m in the process of 3D printing those now so I can continue.

It must be something about that dining table that demands RC's be worked on there. 🤣
No, it's just because your workbench is always cluttered with rc 💩

To be fair, mine isn't. It's just too small for two 1/10 rigs and all my tools and parts.
