RC Driving Style
Well I just finished building my Ofna LX comp and its running good. I ordered an Xray XB8 a few days ago and I think I will stop right there for now :smoke: These buggys keep on coming out every time you turn around. So I am pretty sure that with the arsenal I have now I got thing's covered. Unless something comes out that just kills the XB8

Definetely show some pics of that XB8 of yours when you get it!

I can relate, they just keep coming out with new things that are bigger and better and I HAVE to have them!

...just wish I had the money for all of them

Oh I will definately put up some pics as soon as I can, I'm thinking of running the new Wasp .28 in it but have not made that decision just yet. And I just checked the status of my shipment Via FedEx and it should be here saturday "perfect timing" seen I have this weekend Off :w00t:

i do hope XB8 is REALLY the TOP-OF-THE-LINE buggy... so that u can use it for at least 5 years? LOL...

i just curious... how many of us here has use their BUGGY for more than 3-5 years?
how to make sure your buggy is ALWAYS BE AS COMPETITIVE FOREVER?

:) mop :)

Well I have had cars longer then that but I have never raced them that long due to a newer car coming out and been a better performer. I have three cars going back to when I raced electric Offroad, "1984" Although I do still race my Losi XXT-CR from time to time.

how to make sure your buggy is ALWAYS BE AS COMPETITIVE FOREVER?

what kind of things you did to it?

:) mop :)

the XB8 is top of the line. trust me. and put a race bred .21 in it, not a monster block.

The O.S. VZ-B V-Spec seems to be the way to go for racers. They actually dynoed it at 2.94 HP. That is pretty inpresive power from a .21, or even a monster block.

Well on the way home today I stoped off at my LHS and he had a O.S. VZ-B V-Spec and I just couldn't resist the price he gave me seen it was his last one too. So I guess I will put the big oL wasp .28 on the back burner for now.

i would go for either the v-spec or the Rb ws7II probably the later depending on your budget, ,
Corado I seen the vspecs spit the dummy here the other day, both did conrods and the resulting piston and liners, so just keep an eye on your rods make shure you havent got any ex wear etc, who knows why they blew maybe just idiot drivers or maybe it might be there weak point as all motors have, just thought id let you know

even rody roem recommends changing the con rods in his Rb engines after one gallon or a full break-in for the particular engine. i know my V-spec had alot of compression and pinch when new and still does even now, and that has to put alot of stress on the con-rod. thx for that info, ill be doing a tear down and inspect of mine at one gallon after this weeknd.

dont worry speed phreak, the V-spec was a good choice, i can only vouch so far for the power and tuning, but others on this board and other forums are at 3+ gallons so far and running great. if i can get 4+ gallons out of this mill before a rebuild or re-pinch ill be very happy.

Well I have allways been a fan of OS engines, in every plane I ever built I allways put in an OS power plant, their reputation stands strong with me for good reliable engines and like any car that I race I like to keep a small supply of extra parts for those unexpected events and will be sure to keep an extra crank in my box, thanks for the heads up on that one. We will see how things go.....

thanks for the warning mike. i just had mine apart at 1.5 gallons for an inspection and the rod fits nice and tight over the crank still. i needed needle nose pliers to take it off. i took out the p/s and inspected them. nice and clean no scratches and plenty of pinch still. everything got cleaned up and a nice coat of ARO upon reassembly.

speed, you will love the vspec I'm sure. i can vouch that motor in that chassis is a rediculous corner to corner rocket. at my track i can start from a dead stop at the bottom of the first jump and clear the double to land flat behind the 2nd jump.

Yeah that's what I like to hear, After hearing what everyone has to say about the OS VZ-B V-Spec I am more than convinced that it will do the job I intend to use it for. Are there any breakin tips\precauctions I should know about or are normal breakin procedures sufficient?

copied from the sgrid, since I've started using this method I've noticed my engines keep thier pinch longer.

[The Bess method of breakin (also called the Heat Cycle Method)

From the very 1st time you start your engine, plop the car on the
ground & begin running it in a parking lot in 2-3 minute intervals,
tuned only *slightly rich* getting the temps up in the 200F range on a
normal day. Every 2-3 minutes, shut the engine down & let it cool
completely with the piston at BDC, and then fire it back up; continue
this cycle until you've run 15 min or so, and then bump up to 3-4
minute intervals. Vary the RPM and don't be afraid to get the temps
in the 200's. What you want is heat cycling of the components without
the incredible stress that comes with breaking an engine in when it's
overly rich & cold. After cycling the engine in this manner for about
20-25 total minutes, it'll be ready for the track and race tuning.]

geee corrado no wonder your motor still got its pinch it not run in :)
hehe kidding

Ultra Comp??? What were you thinking.... Do you know that ofna came out with a new buggy...It's called Jammin cr1... The designers are trying to hit a homerun on KYOSHO.... If I were you I'd sell your Ultra... (Dinosaur!!!)Oh, If your interested call Ace Hobbies in San Carlos, CA. They do buisness with people all over the world through mail and they also travel from time to time. Talk to RJ or Kevin and tell them you want to redeem yourself and buy a Jammin CR 1...

Ok well you know why would I bother buying the X1-CR when FedEx just handed me my XB8 like 5min ago? The OS V-spec motor is for the XB8 not the comp. and besides my guy at my LHS gave me the comp for only and yes only 245 RTR..... and now I can start on my XB8 wich is going to be my primary car anyways. I couldn't pass up the deal on the comp even if Ofna came out with the X1-CR that I believe is starting at what 549 or something like that. I do think part of the point of this thread was to stop buying every new buggy that comes out, "atleast for a while lol" Not that my LHS has anything against it, but I just don't want to keep buying a new buggy every other week.Well I gotta get to work on the XB8 now. Peace out

corrado that is the exact same method i use to break-in my engines, but with the V-spec i added 3 more 4 minute heat cycles for a total of 35 or so minutes of heat cycling. the pinch was so tight with the V-spec i felt it needed those extra heat cycles before i was ready to let it rip for performance tune.
