I think I'm going to get the duratraxx flashpoint

I have heard that that is a good one, I just dont know why a temp gun is so expensive.

No kidding some of them are outragous. I went ahead and bought the ebay one,
22 bucks shipped sounded good to me :)

haha, I might buy one soon... just waiting to hear back from the lhs about my car...

Yeah its a good deal it was one of the cheapest I could find on ebay. I have no idea though what they go for at the lhs?

Froogle is your friend.

Personaly, i'd get the Raytek w/laser which can be found for about 50.

It goes for A LOT more at hobby shops.

Its obviously going to be more accurate than the little ones like the ofna and duratrax.

I just the Raytek w/laser and i'm glad I got it, batteyr lasts forever.

$50 is NOTHING in nitro rc.

I spend 100 dollars on a servo, 300 on an engine, 30 on fuel, the list goes on and on.

$50 is worth it if you want to tune your engine to its maximum potential.

If you think about it, it's $50 for something you won't have to replace in a long long time. You know, like tires, that $30 gallon of fuel your LHS ripped you off for that lasts 2 weekends, drive shafts, diff parts...

$50 once! Hell, I almost buy two just to rationalize it!

I went with the Radio Shack version. The duratrax and OFNA ones are too small for my big club fingers to use comfortably. I think I spent $35 at the store. It was on sale. It supposedly has raytek electronics in it. But I'm too lazy to take it apart to be sure. I just read that on a forum somewhere.

Good point... I think I will get the duratrax flashpoint one, is that a good one?

I have a duratrax one, I like it a lot. Very small and easy to work. Those laser ones will be more accurate but for a basher I don't think they are neccessary.

ooo, is the duratrax flashpoint an infra-red one? whats the diff from a laser?

Yea its infrared...not sure on the difference...I'm assuming the laser is more accurate...it costs more so it must be better lol.

Well, it depends. Some actually use the lazer to read the temp. The ones I think that were above use a lazer just to give you something to aim with and a infra red sensor/emitter (can't see) to read the temp.

I Like my Flashpoint, I was at home and our Heatin/AC guy came to fix our unit and he whent around my house and hit all the vents with a laser temp gun, I asked him about it and it was a $125, well I asked him what the temps were around my house and after he left I got my Flashpoint out and I checked afew of the vents, I was off by maybe 5 deg. at most. I was stoked I had no clue it was so accurate. Plus it is really durable I have stepped on mine, dropped it, and it was at the bottom of my pit box and a thing of ARO broke and it got covered in it oil. It still worked, I later took the battery out and cleaned out all the oil.

Just my experience.
