Does anyone here have a Team Checkpoint 950 (preferred) or Hakko soldering station and if so can you please set your dial to 700, allow the LED light to blink (indicates at set temperature) and then use a temp gun and post the temperature of soldering iron tip.

I know it's a long shot, but figured I'd ask.

I have a Hakko 928 dual iron station, if that would be ok I can do it for you.

It'd be interesting to see I suppose but for my purposes I'd like to see what others are getting on the same models I've got.

If I can find my temp gun I'll check it out. You having problems or what?

You having problems or what?

I am, but I don't know if it's me that's the problem or the station. The first one I bought my TempGun would only show a temperature of 180-190F at the tip of the iron and that was with the calibration dial turned all the way up and the iron set to 700.

After some time Hobbico sends me a new station and the first thing I do is check the temp and right now I'm getting 150-160F. This is the second soldering station and both seem to be reading very low temps.

I can melt solder, and even put some on a wire - it takes a minute or two but it will do it. I can't seem to get a connector on it though. Then again this is my first soldering station I've owned and I'm sure my highly un-technical soldering skills aren't helping either.

I can't find my temp gun, sorry. But my station takes a minute or two to warm up, I just leave it on the highest setting, then it takes a couple seconds to melt the solder.
