I'm going to be hiking for one week, in one week, in the Ardennes👍
I'd love to finally take a nitro with me on vacation but keep thinking about two things.

1. Will it hurt if I, after every run, won't take the fuel out of the car's fuel tank?
2. I probably won't clean my RC at all there, not even the filter, will it survive without looking like a chunk of mud?
3. Are there any very random things you still recommend me I should take which usually don't come to mind?

Imagine both scenarios for one week, driving half an hour a day on surfaces of pebbles, asphalt and short grass

Belgium? Looks like a beautiful area.

Nah man it'll take longer than a day for any fuel in the tank to gel or anything in the engine to absorb moisture. You could run it on the first day then let it sit for the rest of the week and it would still be fine.

However I would recommend bringing a spare filter or some oil so that you can clean your current filter.

Bring extra filters and glow plugs!
A can of compressed air might be smart just in case you get REAL muddy/wet but otherwise I agree, you're set.
I always ran my tanks to empty so that might be a thought to try also.

You should be good. Even if you leave fuel in the tank for the whole week it’ll be ok. Mike had a good suggestion about taking an extra air filter. Enjoy your trip and burn some Nitro 😎👍🏻

Hiking usually goes well with trail trucks or crawlers 😁
Yes, I'll be hiking right after breakfast each day, just like exactly one year before, but now I'll have something to do in the late evening💨😎
AKA disrupting the peace🤣
(The schumacher Rascal is the quietest nitro I own tho🙂)

Belgium that's right, it'll be my second time hiking there👍

Thanks a lot for the recommendations👍!

i don't recommend leaving the fuel in the tank. 20+ years ago when i started running nitro i had numerous hobby shop employees tell me that the alcohol in the fuel will evaporate and it would run lean  which i later, though neglect, tested and after leaving the car sitting with a half tank for 4 days, yes, it ran hot and lean.
i was also warned against leaving it in the "squeezy bottle" (fuel bottle) cause it would evaporate out of that as well. which i later found out to be true. leave it in the squeezy bottle in sun on a hot day and yeah, condensation inside the bottle and bad fuel.
that said, if you had another screw on cap for the fuel bottle that sealed and kept it out of the sun you would probably be ok.

Don't forget to take some epic pictures with your nitro for next months ROTM contest
If you run the car out of fuel each time, I feel like your risks woyld be minimal.
Don't forget some basic stuff likecthe tools required for fuel filter and glow plug swaps!
I also thought maybe a small ziplock of screws. Wheel nuts too maybe.

I'm happy to help when I can!
Payback would be fantastic in photo form!!! 👍🏻

Enjoy your trip!!!

Thanks once again man👍👍
Payback will be even in clips but probably not be immediate, I'll edit the clips together once I'm back

For now, on my youtube account, a video should be published in under 50 minutes of how I'm "testing" the reliability of the cars I'm planning to take. The T2M sadly didn't pass but the HPI truggy and Schumacher Rascal sure did😎

Thanks, I'm really surprised!?
I've always been keeping the nitro fuel inside the squeezy bottle for storage, even for month(s), in a cold, sunless place and nothing seems to be wrong...
It probably primarily depends on the type of fuel, not like mine is high quality but it's my only choice🤣 I hope to get some better nitro fuel in Belgium.
I'll sure stop the engine by cutting off fuel when I'm there. Other than that I gues I'll take the gamble of leaving fuel inside the tank

I'm sure the quality of the fuel plays a roll. the stuff that went bad in the tank was Blue Thunder 20%. not sure if it's still around. the stuff that got weird on me in the squeezy bottle in the sun was Trinity Monster Horsepower 20% which was a good fuel. but 90 degrees and direct sunlight for an hour, craps gonna happen.

what iv always been lead to believe is that the alcohol in the fuel both evaporates and attracts moisture. that's why you're supposed to store fuel in a cool, dry, dark place in a sealed container. the tank on your car is open via the fuel line attached to the carb. and the squeezy bottle, well I'm at a loss if the rubber cap is on the filler neck. but apparently it's not as sealed as the bottle the fuel comes in.

Sun is bad for fuel. At least I've always heard that.
If I recall correctly, Blue Thunder was a hit or miss fuel. I think I still have some!🤣

Just thought of another question as I'm packing my stuff for tomorrow. Is it bad for the RC car (1/16th scale absima with plastic everything) to have weight above it, squeezing the suspension down?

it's not good to keep the springs compressed long term. or smash the tires flat long term. but if your packing it, unpacking it, packing it again, unpacking again. it'll be fine

I'd disconnect the shocks from that arms. Tape a bag with the shock screws and a tool to the chassis. Also include a margin of error incase someone tosses the bag.

I finally made it to Belgium👍
I'm keeping the picture credit for next ROMZ though lol

I don't believe a nitro rc car should be a problem as there's literally 7 year olds right here learning how to drive a car🤣

I took a kinda toy grade RC WLToys plane with me as well but it just doesn't want to stay in the air.

vacation setup😁 (the trophy truggy is sitting photo shy in the corner)
