Whats up guys? So building a tmaxx/emaxx truck. I stuck a revo 2.0 transmission in it already. And the drive train from maxx 3.3.?? What motor/ ESC combo you think 🤔. Castle, Hobbywing, spectrum. New to the whole brushless and lipo power. Just want a good basher with power 4s-6s thinking.I'm leaning towards hobby cuz of better programming on esc

I'm all about Castle and Tekin electronics but if you're looking for something cheaper then go HW. I'm not sure about them having better programmability than Castle tho, unless something changed in the last few years and I'm just not aware?

Um looking for the best motor/ esc set up. I only read that hw had better programming then castle no personal experience with them. The $$ isn't a big problem I work hard and like to play hard lol.

I haven't looked into to the techin. Going to look that up now

Tekin is my favorite brand for anything that I'm building that is race quality or I want high amounts of control. Castle is my favorite bashing brand although theyve gotten better in recent years since they started making all their stuff sensored. So in your case with this kit Id probably go for a Castle Mamba Monster X or Mamba Monster 2 ESC paired with a Castle 1717 - 2200kv motor and run it on 6S >: )

Yeah definitely going have to go with the bigger motor just for the weight it has I would say 10-15lbs when all done probably maybe.not to many aluminum parts. So far just the maxx3.3 chassis

Whats is it. lower the number the more torque and hight the number more top end ?

Another note got new shock springs for the maxx they are just ridiculous in size comparison to the 1/10 spring 🤣🤣🤣🤣

yeah lower kv equals more torque less top speed but can be compensated for with gearing. I've run a Castle 2200kv and a Tekin 1550kv both in my LST2-E on 6S. The Tekin motor would get a little warm but not bad at all. the 2200kv would get pretty hot but I just compensated by using smaller pinions when I switched from 1550 to 2200kv and my LST2-E weighs about 13.5 lbs.

LOL, Those springs are pretty dang big :)

Cool beans sir thanks for the info I'm looking into the tecins.and you were rite the castle esc has more programing then HW. Is the castle waterproof not many of their esc are correct. Is the techin waterproof. Not going for a swim but do get muddy and wet some times

The springs are nuts lol

Tekin is not really waterproof. Castle I'm not sure about to be honest. Castle I believe was starting to come out with waterproof ESCs when i took a break a number of years ago. Not sure if they continued that trend or not. I just buy some conformal coating from amazon and waterproof my own ESCs if I feel they need it. I dont take my kits out usually when its wet or muddy out though.

I don't run in mud but if I hit a puddle or a hole. I would rather be safe then broken. But that's a pretty cool idea.whats that just a spray to waterproof

Theres various different ways you can do it. The conformal coating that I used was one from amazon that you brush on. You can also use Never Wet which is a spray or liquid tape which is another brush on applicator. Only problem with this is its voids the warranty.

Looks like most of the Castle ESCs are waterproof already. Hell even Tekin may be by this point. I honestly dont look at that feature to often and its a lot more widespread now than it was 5 years ago

You think that would be to much for this build?

Personally Id use THIS. If you wanted to try and save a few bucks you could go for a new ESC/2200kv combo on ebay thats been pulled out of a 6S EREVO or similar Traxxas kit like THIS. That being said the Traxxas VXL-6S ESC is new since I've come back to the hobby and have no first hand experience with them. These kits used to come with a Traxxas branded Mamba Monster 2 in them but looks like theyve switched it up there a bit. If you want to spend a little extra and get data logging & Telemetry capabilities then you could go for soemthign like THIS.

I personally don't like traxxas electronics. I'm going to go with a Castle set up.for it

Ok I'm going with the last one 1515 2200 set up
