I'm just curious I picked up a hobbywing quicrun 10BL120A and the hw 3150kv motor, I was considering going up to a 13 or 14t pinion. Stock it's a 12t. I want it to do 50 on 3S but I'm not sure if that's possible with that setup maybe someone has some info on it. Pic of the truck 👍

Thanks 👍

I have the same Hobbywing combo in mine, and I run it with a 13T pinion, but I have no idea it's top speed. Just not my focus. I do know it is a fun rig on 3S.
Nice 👍 I wouldn't say I'm focused on top speed I just want the performance to be similar or better than the Stock 3300kv setup.

I don’t have this truck but I’ll offer what I can. You can go up in pinion just monitor the temps of the motor and esc when you do. Run the truck for a few minutes and check it with an infrared gun. Run it for longer and check again.

Thanks man ya I have an IR gun I'm going to go up a tooth or two from 12t and I'll monitor temps if it gets hot I'll throw the stock 12t back on.

The MT48 is a tweener size truck with a tweener size weight, I think a 10th scale power system is too weak for the truck. You're going to bake your motor or your truck is going to be really slow. I run a Castle 1515 with a 16t pinion on 4s in mine, my 3s Slash with a 1512 motor has more power for its weight. My MT48 on 4s probably couldn't be geared to do 50 without being an over heating queen.

I doubt it's going to cook the motor but who knows, I'm referring to the mt10 associated. I've seen it on 3700kv same ESC and it looked out of control. I saw it on 3150kv and it was fast enough 45-47mph with a sh*t ton of torque and as you mentioned it not that heavy anyway.

What size motor is in it now, did I miss that part?

Yup that's the one it's 3660 size
Pshhh its going to be fine. If you're upsizing the motor from 3652 to 3660 it will have a little more torque just from displacement. Try the 12t just because you have one then go 13t and so on.

I was confused because to my memory and what I read the stock reedy 3300kv is a 550 and it already has the beefier 5mm diameter output shaft. Other people say it's a 540 with a 3.17mm shaft diameter I'll know when I receive the 3660 and go to put the stock 12t pinion on.

You can usually tell just by looking at it, the shaft size is obvious. You will have to buy a 13t pinion with a 5mm bore for whatever pitch the spur gear is.

I'm just thinking about maybe returning this combo and going for the stock motor on eBay i dunno we'll see. I like the performance it has stock tbh.

Why would you buy another stock motor? Was there something wrong with the one you have? RTR electronics are not worth paying for twice, keep the HW combo and never look back.
