I'm sure this topic has been beat to death so sorry in advance. I have no experience with RC trucks. I was looking at these 3 trucks but uncertain what to get. Id like to hear some of your opinions on what to buy and why and even another brand i did not mention. I would like a truck i can jump and abuse a bit, be durable and easy to buy parts for. Thanks peeps

From personal experience I have only owned the savage. Would never part with it. It is one awesome MT, fast, rock solid, cheap to run and easy to get parts for. They take one hell of a beating and will withstand the heaviest landings.
A good tip is too check with your local hobby store and see what parts they have in stock or have available. This can sway many people as most don't want to be waiting a week for parts.
As with all the MT's the HPI range have a great aftermarket sales team if your looking at buying new.
I'm sure someone who has the revo or T-Maxx can shed a bit of light on them for you.

Hope this helps.

I have owed 4 Savages and 4 E/T-Maxxes though out the years. For out of the box toughness you can't top the Savage very much. The Maxx takes a lot of upgrading to be as tough. Granted it can be done but still it will cost some money to do. I am putting my vote on the Savage as an owner of both.

Savage is my choice also
i have a savage 25 with the original engine in it and have over 10 gallons of fuel thru it and have broken about 40 dollar worth of parts.the upright set i changed 2 times on different conners of the truck and a gearbox bulkhead set due to the after market skid plates i put on, that are now in the garbage. They bend and break other stuff. The stock palstic flexes more
i would just leave it all stock and never put any aftermarket parts on it.

I had the same questions. I listened to this and some other forums, talked to the LHS's, and ended up going w/Revo. I liked the local parts support, and the newer technology of the Revo. I have to admit, for bashing, I may have been better off with the Savage. It all depends on what your situtation/needs/wants are. I am happy for now.

Be careful i have heard a few bad things about the optidrive....Let me know what you think of the truck i have a few maxx's and i like the looks of the revo but didnt think it looked as durable as the maxx...

Anyone one else own a TMax? Lets hear your thoughts on the truck, it looks easy to work on and has been around for some time now. What is prone to breaking on the truck? The local store has a tmax in stock but would have to order in both the Savage and Revo. decisions decisions!!

I have got the 2.5 classic T-Maxx that I have put a 3.3 motor into. This is a great truck to own, light, tons of parts available, at least at my lhs, and yes it is very easy to work on But, As mentioned above, you will have to put some money into beefing it up to savage strength for sure. I have got Golden Horizon bulkheads and chassis braces (in stock form to answer your question are prone to breakage), as well as RPM skid plates all the way down the middle of the chassis and it cost me around $150. The T-Maxx is also really fast due to its light weight...until you start to add alot of heavier aftermarket parts to it (but that goes for any rig really).

I have also heard from others that the 3.3 is a very easy engine to keep tuned, and for me that has been very true. I basically just adjust the hsn lean or rich depending on temp outside and go.

Now my T-Maxx is pretty darn tough, they are stock anyways, but Traxxas stock plastic just doesn't seem to be as strong and rigid as the HPI stock plastic.

How much are they asking for the Tmaxx at your lhs. T-Maxxes are generally cheaper than the savage.

The t-max is $440. and the Savage is $480 so very close in price. The guys i know that have them dont have a Tmax so having something different is nice rather then running like a fleet. Funny though its sounding like the savage is the toughest out of the bunch from the reading I've done. But out of the couple times I've gone and watched a savage and a revo run the savage is the one that broke.

i have 2 revo ...one stock with the 3.3 ...and one that i built myself with a bigger engine ....i think its a great truck ...it handles great and is pretty tuff as well ..i have broken a couple things on my stock one ..but they were all easy cheap fixes ..i have not had any problems with the optidrive ..works great for me ..main thing i had problems with , is the ez-start system ..but was able to fix that myself ;)

i love the revo ..its a great versatile truck ..great racer and pretty decent basher ....but, i have heard nothing but good thing about the savage , its solid as a brick from what i red ...but might not handle as good as the revo

i hear so much bad about the tmaxx and i have only had a couple minor fixes that were cheap aswell.. I would like to try out a savage to find out what all the fuss is about... I would also like a revo to try it looks like it would be a great racer... I wouldn't get rid of any of my maxx's.. i have kept one completely stock and it is holdin up pretty good on my end.... front skip plate is what i bust alot!!!!!! and tires and rims.... I like the grip of the tires on the 3.3 but they dont seem to be as strong as the older tmaxx tires from the classic 2.5... the maxx's arnt to bad to work on as long as you keap everything neat while working on it and by double checkin with the diagram just incase.........

I have a heavy maxx and a stock maxx and the lighter truck does alittle better at times... You break more with a heavier truck i have found from talking to a few friends....

I've got a T maxx. I really like it. Out of the box the maxx is very clumbsy. kinda like driving a milk truck! After a little tweaking on the syspension it handles pretty good.

you can't be the Maxx for availability up upgrade parts. In the end after about $1100 in upgrades youll end up with a maxx that can hang with just about anything. (bashing)

That is one nice looking truck!!! Like the wing.

I myself prefer the Revo. It's at least as fast as the Savage and handles much better. The only parts I've ever broken on it was the reverse due to an OptiDrive failure.
