I find myself bashing my savage way more than i do my storm buggy. So i figure why not put the better JR radio on the savage and use the junkie savage radio on the storm. I know i can just program the savage to the JR but i dont want to have to buy a JR receiver to make that work...(I will do that later)

All i gotta do is swap the receiver from the storm to the savage (and vis versa) and whaaaaalla...it should work right?

Just thought id ask before i went through the trouble.

yes it will work. or you could buy a second jr receiver for your savage and use your jr transmitter for both cars.

i am planning on doing that but in the meantime id rather go ahead and just swap for now.

Thanks

What transmitter is it? I have an extra 75MHz AM JR laying around that I could part ways with pretty cheaply.

At least I think it's 75Mhz...

It's only a 2 channel though. I did the same thing a long time ago with my maxx. I dumped the tq3 and the reverse, then I used the xmitter that I used with my xxx-nt and bought another receiver.

The xmitter has since been traded off, but the extra receiver is still here.

The one that i want to put on the savage is the JR XR3i. How much would you want for the tx? Its a JR....which one?

oh shoot..sorry i missed read ya. Id like to stick with FM if i can. If it would work with my current JR receiver, I would be all over it.

I appreciate the offer anyway!!!!

Well..i wasn't sure myself at the time. Its been a while since i have bashed the storm, completely forgot what Tx even came with it...lol

Sorry for hi-jacking this thread but the title is exactly what I'd like to know. How would you swap transmitters and keep the same receiver in a car? Is there something inside the transmitter that you can just change?

Well from what I've read it's just a matter of changing crystals.

THat's true if your using the same brand and model of equipment. I use a single mx-3 transmitter for both my trucks. Both trucks have the receiver that came with the transmitter. I just swap the crystal in the transmitter when I change trucks.

But, if one truck has a traxxas 75mhz AM receiver/transmitter and the other has a JR 75Mhz AM receiver/transmitter, there's a high likelyhood that you can't just swap the crystal in the transmitter to get it to work with both receivers.

Interesting, I didn't know the transmitter would make a difference. On Hobby Warehouse they list crystals completely seperate or do you have to look for the one for that transmitter?

I'm sorry, I really don't know. I do know that crossing brands of transmitters/receivers can either not work or cause glitching. This is only from what I've read. Personally, I didn't want to wast $70 to find out my MX3 wouldn't work with a receiver that didn't come with it, so I bought 2 sets of the MX3 xmitter/receivers for $90 a piece. Now I have a spare xmitter in a drawer in case I ever smash mine.

When I had my JR Xr2 radio (AM 75Mhz), I bought a second JR receiver. But they were quite a bit cheaper than the receiver that comes with the MX3. I think it's around $80 just for it and a crystal. Which is why I just bought 2 full sets. An extra $15 for a backup transmitter was worth it.

You are more than likely better off buying a second receiver that is made for the transmitter that you like to use.

Well I have three sets now. Two are new and I have that same Airtronics 75 mhz that I think you have. It's missing both crystals.
