Hey guys,

I'm looking into getting a Truck / Truggie anything that kicks butt off road. I've already got a road car and where I live I think a off road would be alot of fun.

I'm looking for a RTR Option with some power behind it, I like HPI's models. Anyone have any suggestions heres a few I was looking at.

If you could pick one of these which would you go with?
  1. HPI Nitro Firestorm10T
  2. HPI Nitro MT2
  3. HPI Hellfire RTR

I'm looking for something at or under 300$ so If you have any other suggestions let me know.

Thanks!

I'm not really familiar with any HPI stuff but i haven't heard many good things about the Hell fire. sorry i can't help you more but i just have no idea:(

Well Ill cross that one off the list, I might just save some more and get a revo, They seem to be the best right?

They're a bit more expensive out of the box than you originally mentioned, but you won't be disappointed.

If you're just bashing, get a Savage. If you're going to race or race and bash then get a Revo. The Savage, depending on which model you get will prolly be cheaper though.

I'll toss another vote for the Savage. Tough as an old Cadillac, and tons of hopups out there for it. It's one of the few models that has a three speed option availlable for it.

If you want some good power go for a Traxxas Rustler 2.5. They're not the toughest of trucks, but parts are cheap, and the power-to-weight ratio is outstanding. Not to mention parts are dirt cheap. A word of caution though, don't even drive it until you put an RPM wide bumper on it.

It depends. If your racing, the Revo hands down. If your racing and bashing, again, Revo hands down. Bashing, prolly the Savage.

It's really a Ford (revo) vs Savage (chevy) debate. Personally, I like my Savage. But, I've been curious about the Revo, since people who have them like them.

I have a Savage. One tough truck.
Don't know anything about a Revo, but would like to try one. Don't think ya could go wrong with either.

I have had both. Right of the box, the Savage is tank. I hopped up my savage and took a lot of my blunders and still wanted more. My Revo has a different stance to it since it is lower. The Revo has a better racing value but the bashing capability is still strong. I thing the Savage may be stronger but that is my opinion. I have owned the Savage 25, Savage 21, Savage X, The Revo 3.3. revo 2.5. All are great trucks. Parts availability for me was easy since Hobbypeople and my regular LHS normally stocks on these two. Think of cost factors.

The revo will require a BB conversion while the Savage the BB drop right in.

I gotta say the savage for all out bashing so far nothing out right now can take a beating better then the savage.

for bashing/racing it's a toss up the revo is pretty much ready to race almost out of the box, the savage can be made into a capable racer as long as your not racing truggies and revos. depends on your local tracks rules on MT racing.

If you just planning to race then go for the revo.

the firestorm I have seen but not to sure about it.

No one I know who's had a hellfire has liked it for one reason or another.

Your local track is dumb if they combine truggies and Revo's or any other Production Monster truck. It'd be like putting a Ferrari, Lambo and Lotus against a KIA Spectra.

well they do it when they don't have enough guys to run a class they mix the revo's in with the MT's fairly often when the revo's first came out funny thing is it was very rare for a revo to win a main, the track is pretty much geared up for 1/8 scale buggies so you would think the revo's had the advantage but it never seemed to make much of a difference to the MT guys most of us have setup our savages for racing anyway and the really fast guys can give the truggys a run for their money.

i agree with everyone so far.

both the revo and the savage are good rigs, but are two different rigs. the savage is more like a monster truck (think bigfoot) where the revo is more like a baja truck.

the savage is hands down the toughest truck built ( there is a reason why rpm didnt make savage arms for so long...), but with a few key upgrades the revo can be very tough as well.

the savage drives like a brick on wheels, but is tough as said brick. the revo handles like a dream, the 2.5 version is decently fast, and the 3.3 is very quick.

like others said, if you want to race, revo. if your gonna race, with an occasional bash, revo. if your gonna jump the house, SAVAGE!!

i own both, (this is my third savage) both are fun to drive, but if I'm gonna do something stupid, i reach for the savage.... i know it will come out cheeper in the end..

you can pic up decent used rigs of either one for about what your looking to spend.

Well I think I'm going to grab a Revo, I drove one today and it was lots of fun, This one had a OS .18TM in it but still, I'm sure the stock engine will be great also and eventually ill upgrade to the OS.
