The range I go to does not allow Wolf brand ammo.

Out of curiosity why not?.... this damn forum cause me to procrastinate to much on homework... which is due in 1 hour and 6 min.

When I was 10 years old my neighbor had a pit that would get out of the yard sometimes. It almost got me a couple of times, one day I heard a big noise outside so I take a look and two of my Collie pups or dead and my female Collie is hurt, then I see the pit in my yard....Without hesitation I loaded the shotgun went outside and ended his miserable life. An hour later the cops showed up to arrest me for cruelty to the animal, then I showed them what the pit had done to my dogs and I ended up getting retribution for the pups and the vet bill for the female.

Sumo, if I remmebre correctly, it might have something to do with it jamming a lot, but I forget the reason now. The range is Evans Gunsmithing right behind the Phoenix Club, close to you.

On topic, certain dogs are barely out of the pack and hunt instinct. I feel it is better to avoid them if you do not need them. And then there are coyotes and mountain lions. A guy out here in the OC shot one yesterday and he was charged as it is an against the law to shoot them unless your life is in danger. I get coyotes coming off the golf course all the time and jump the 8 foot wall into my backyard. They have eaten a few of the neighbors small dogs over the years. I guess if it moves, it needs to be eaten, and that must be what goes through the mind of pits, too.

sorry about the rabbit, man. all i can say about pits is be careful. they are prone to being a little schizo sometimes. and if all else fails, Aguila makes some good subsonic .22s. they sound like a crappy pellet gun. super quiet.

oh and i think the ranges just don't like the steel cased ammo. one more step in the sorting process before they can hock the used brass (i reload 9mm so i'm all too familiar with sorting out that damn steel).

OR A 32oz framing hammer works well!

I had to tee off a pissed of possum a few weeks ago

LOL zandor... i don't know you that well.... but i'm starting to think you might have maybe some resurfacing childhood insecurities or something.

freakin framing hammer...jesus. that was a nice image i got from that one what with the possum golf and all.

That sucks, sorry for your loss of the rabbits. We had a pit come down from the neighborhood when i lived in pa,it tried to get into a fight with my Boxer and American Staffer Shirer(my cousins),they ripped into the pit so bad.The owner came down the street and called the cops and the animal control, they showed up and she wanted them to take my dog and my cousins away. Well it just so happens my family is good friends with the animal control(deer carcass pick up)and we know the township cops pretty well,it ended up the pit got taking away. The cop told her she is lucky that the dogs got ahold of it first and all it need no is some vet care,he told her since it was un tagged and on are property we had every right to come out with the rifle and end it completly. I would take a boxer anyday they are strong and very loyal, and no one will step foot on the property once they hear the bark and see this all muscler dog standing there.I dont no how the laws are where you are,but next time they come on your prop. if the mess with one of your animals i would shoot it or atleast wound(sp?) it...

OK I will explain It....I let my dogs out back (i have boxers) So about ten miniuts went by and I here Zippy barking..So I go to the back door And see zip and zandor Have this possum in a corner..
And the possum is In a atack posiotion..................................
I don't have time to go to the back bedroom to get the 22 so I grabed the hammer...Thats all I needed was to have to pay another vet bill...Ya A little harsh but ya ga'ta do what ya ga"ta do!

yeah no matter how you train a pit it will still have some kind of aggression.

A freind of mine had a pure breed blue nose. the dog only respected certain people. had a history of killing other pits ( kids put their doggs in his yard to make them fight without our permission). anyway one day we were in my back yard with the dog playing with him. all of a sudden he stopped moving and stared at something. we didnt know what. next thing i know the dog ran THROUGH my from gate and flung a stray cat atleast 15 feet in the air and killing it. then the dog came back to me with blood in his mouth like nothing happened. i was shocked because at the time my cat was still alive and the got along great.

one year when we were deer hunting we were driving down a road and seen a Raccoon in the ditch so we slowed down so we wouldnt hit it but it just sat there. So we stopped and helled out the window for it to move and we were kinda curious what was up. So then my dad and my uncle and get out of the truck and walk up towards it. The thing must have either had rabies or come out of hibernation early (not sure if they hibernate) but the thing was pissin on itself, and was growlin like nuts at us, but wouldnt/couldnt move from a snow pile. So I'm standing there just lookin at it (I was 12 at the time) and all of a sudden my dad comes flyin in and wacked the basterd on the head with a hammer..lol.. Then picks it up, tosses it in the back of the truck and says "Will make a nice hat..no holes..." Then snickered..lol.. (I later went and got it tanned and its actually hangin on my wall now) So thats my esperiance with good ol hammer kills as well..lol

Back on topic

I put pits and rots in the same category. If not a guard dog, there worthless. In todays age, theres not much need for a guard dog (Gets outwitted by balogna) when everyone has cameras, so they could gas all of them for all I care. They do WAYYY more damage than good. I have a scar on my head (on my hairline, hope I dont go bald) from getting bit by a Rot. 6 stiches later, my dad shot it.

Ya know, somehow I can honestly see Zandor yelling out "FOOORE!"

Seriously, back on topic. The drug house across the road (nice neighborhood, eh?) has a pit mix that gets out and roams the street on occasion. Just this week, it mysteriously dissapeared. I'm thinking the local PD finally did something about it and took the darned thing.

All because of it, the whole street almost lost mail service (the dog almost attacked the mailman a few times).

Ironicly, the staffs are the other breeds (both American, and English) that are commonly reffered to as pitbulls. A lot of pitbull bans extend to staffs and other dogs that "look like pitbulls." I've heard that the sttordshire terriers are excellent with children.

Wish I still had a link to that news article, from a while back. The one where the woman was attacked in her own yard by somebody's red chow. Two pitbuills came out of nowhere, jumped the fence, and ran off the chow.

Chow chows are the dogs that scare me.

Just before we moved my Boxers daughter Chloe(boxer/amrican bulldog) got a guy off his wife he was beating the poop out of her.We were all standing outside and we heard what sounded like a little girl screaming and Chloe started barking and took off.Me my dad and his buddy that is like 350 pounds ran up to see what was going on,and the gyuy and his wife pinned to the ground and he was punching and kicking her(cause she would not give him money for drugs),Chloe got up there and grab ahold of his leg and started yanking.Well he finally got off of her and ran to his car when he see us running up through,he sped out of the drive way. The cops had came got a full report and everything, the lady said she did not now how to repay us for scaring him off like that.....This all happend the day before we were gonna roll out of the driveway and neva see the place again. That same night the town we live about a .5 miles out of, every presinc(sp?)in the county raided it for drugs and they found the guy.

Its not the dog, its the owners.
If they are bad dogs due to the owners neglect, they need to be up down.
Don't be afraid to report that they collectively killed your pet rabbit. Once they get the taste for blood it doesn't go away.

Don't let this turn you away from Pits they are great dogs.

Ditto

Once those dogs start eating at their owners wallet, the owner(s) will start taking action. I've never been a pit ( It's actualy name is = American Staffordshire Terrior ) fan my self but it's a shame how these dogs has been done. They've got such a bad rap, that cities like my own are entertaining the idea of banning these dogs. I find most of these dogs to be abused in some way in order to become these home protectors they're usualy used for. Then the funny thing happens, they actually attack someone breaking in to their home and the entruder ends up sueing them for dog bites. I'll stick with a Scotish terrior and a 12gauge ;)
