I had my stock T-maxx clutch system on my OS .18 and I am trying to remove it right know. I got everthing off except for the flywheel. I can't get it off becasue there is this black thing that i think screws into the crankshaft. I tried using pliers but I dont want 2 break the crankshaft. Anybody could help me figure out how 2 get this off safely ???

If u go to the traxxas web site then go to the how to's, then go to rebuild the 2.5 engine and it will tell u how to remove the 2.5 flywheel. it might help

Sounds like the clutch nut. To remove it, you have to first secure the flywheel. There are a few ways to do that. The better way is to use a crank locking tool, but that means having to find one and buy one. A more grizzly way to do it would be to use ChannelLock pliers and a cloth and clamp on the outside of the flywheel. Then use a deep socket (I think it's 10mm) to wrench the nut off. Once that's free, the flywheel should pop off with a little pull. Just be careful. Remember this is all attached to the crank. Bend it or strip threads and you're suddenly in the market for a new crank or a whole new engine.

I use channel locks on the flywheel and my glow plug wrench on the nut. Most times, I have to tap the back of the flywheel with a hammer (or something in a hammering fashion) once I have the nut off to get the flywheel to break loose from the collet.

Try not to use pliers, try to find a socket or a glow plug wrench that will work.

Thankz,
I needed 2 use a 8mm socket wrench, with a very tight grip on the flywheel.
