I'd keep it for spare parts if it were me. The new ones have way nicer, captured out drives and a way nicer slipper(I think). Tougher material, too. But if you want to make a little project with your pede, you can do it without breakin' your bank. First, get rid of the xl-1 and get a xl-5 and a 12 turn titian. You can find them for under $60 on ebay, shipped. If you opt to stick with the old tranny, I'd go with a 6 cell 3800+mah to start. Tenergy packs from allbattery.com should ship to ya for around forty bucks. The stock tranny holds up decent as long as you keep your slipper adjusted right(slip for about 2 ft under hard acceleration). If you crank the slipper down to get it to wheelie, you'll break the idler gear and take the diff gear out with it as well. You can test your steering and rx by hooking up your T Maxx rx pack to your pedes receiver. If they're shot, search ebay for a more recent TQ radio and rx, and a 2055 waterproof servo. $50 or so. The xl5 is waterproof. With a w.p. servo, water becomes much less of a worry. Just don't submerge your battery packs! Even the cost of these lower-end parts ad up. Were already up to the cost of a new xl5 pede and you still need a charger. But for under $200 bucks, you'll have a pretty decent rig. And remember we haven't covered all the nit-pickin' parts like sloppy ball ends, leaky shocks, ect... The truck you have now is probably 10 years old or better.
