It's been a while since I have used a decent surface radio so I'm behind on what works with what. Will the fail safe on a Spektrum transmitter still work with while bind to a cheap Orange Rx GR300 receivers?

As far as I know, the failsafe feature is built into the rx. Being as the failsafe is for when the trx/rx aren't communicating, it wouldn't work if it came from the trx.

The failsafe is built into the RX on the Spektrum radios. Setting it is part of the binding procedure.

They are DSM2 and after a little more reading they do have the fail safe feature.

Thanks for the replies
