I've been watching a Spektrum DX6C radio & receiver combo. It was at $145. Went back up to $185. Now HH sent me an offer of $175. Shows shipping from FlySky. They don't make Spektrum, HH does. Odd.

FWIW, looking at the radio, it could very well be made by FlySky for HH, who knows.

It's the Horizon Hobby listing for it on eBay.
Well, if I were interested I'd have to go with amazon for the price.. from the "Spektrum store".

250 models or something crazy, right? If I weren't married to FlySky, I'd consider it. I already have about a dozen rigs on FlySky, I can't find a reason to change. Plus I really can't afford to. LOL

It would not surprise me to find out FlySky makes Spektrum's surface transmitters. After calling tech support asking about a couple of their servos, only to find out I know more than they do about their own servos, I am pretty confident they outsource the design and manufacture of their servos as well. I called twice and emailed, and nobody could give me the specs I was asking about. And if I remember correctly, I was simply asking about the servo dimensions.

Would not surprise me, FMS makes a bunch of Horizons RC Planes. I would be skeptical if it wasn't shipping directly from Horizon or one of their subsidiaries though.

Spektrum/HH may very well make (more like design) the electronics, but are almost certainly built in a factory that also makes "other brands". Good, not great. I tried to help my BIL program a DX5 Rugged radio, once. No thanks, too complicated. The touch screen was pure crap.. besides, I run rc's in dirt, mud, snow.. touch screen is a no go for me. I like a nice HUD with physical buttons/dials myself. My Flysky radio is nearly 15 years old. Throttle pot is starting to go but otherwise been great.

I totally agree. I have heard people say they like the DX6C, but for a lot less money, I would just grab the FlySky GT5.

I won't buy a Spektrum DX6C then.
You'll like it. I love mine. If not for the GT3B, I'd use the GT5 in everything. But with the GT5 having more channels/features, I typically will only use it in our crawler type stuff.

Thanks man. I will be needing a new receiver soon. And radio. All my other stuff would bind to the DX6C, & have one controller for everything. Just was a odd observation of that it might or could ship from FlySky.

There is also the Radiomaster MT12. It is a pretty badass radio for the price. There may be a bit of a learning curve, but there are a ton of videos on it. It also binds with Spektrum and FlySky receivers. So you could use it for your current Spektrum stuff, and buy the much cheaper FlySky receivers for future needs.

A video showing it binding to Spektrum DSMR Rx's.

I'm sure the DX6C works fine if you really want to go that route, it's just that there are better options out there for the money, unless you're already invested in and want to stay with spektrum RXs.

I'm guessing it's a good radio, maybe great, IDK. I do wonder why they're pairing a 6 channel radio with a 3 channel receiver though?
The other thing that kills the Spektrum stuff for me personally is the price of the receivers, like $50 each. Maybe not an issue for some, but is for me.
By comparison, I can get the FS receivers around $10 each in the US, $6 direct from China.
Now I do note that FS AFHDS A2 (GT5) receivers are only rated to 6.5v. I run 7.4 without any problems on FS receivers though.

I've got six I could bind into one radio. All Spektrum receivers. Just ended up like that. I'm about to build another, & will need a TX & RC. It's way cheaper just to get the $23 combo for a regular RTR TX & SR315 off jennysrc. But that's down the road a bit. Saving up to go on vacation Labor Day week.

That's a good idea, buy the combo from JRC. Toss the radio. I hadn't really thought about that. I am using 2 DX3's currently on my 8s rigs, Xmaxx and K8S. The K8 I bought as an RTR (v1), and the Xmaxx has the radio/receiver from my Lasernut. I wanted the most power I could get (8.4v) to the steering servos in both. Helps, both are running S905 servos. The Lasernut ended up with a TQi radio in it. ATM, I'm using 6 different radios for different about a dozen rigs, LOL. I think I need to buy more FS receivers again.. I was on a tear buying rc's for a while, but funds have become dried up, the last I bought was the K8 late last year. My bro is supposed to be giving me an E Revo 2.0, he has 2 currently. Not sure how I feel about having one. More to keep up with when I'm already struggling. I guess it's a "good" problem to have, too many rc's. :p 🍻

Yes getting the SR315 & TX for $23 is a great deal. I'll need a new RX for the new build. I'll probably get the $23 set like I did for my other builds, but the DX6C combo above comes with a SR315 too. Whether I could get it for $175 or $145, still then I could bind all the others up to it & have one radio for 7 rigs. And have the other features it has none of mine have. But I don't mind spending just $23 bucks & having another radio.

Spending $23 on a RTR radio, or spending $55 on one with a ton more features and cheap Rx's 🤔 That's where I find my dilemmas. You're already balls deep in Spektrum Rx's though, so I get it. But at what point do you stop digging yourself deeper 😉
