I bought a programming box thinking I could change the actual power input to the motor so I could set limits. As an example full throttle on the transmitter would only produce 20% motor speed.

I thought I could control rpm and power band. The preprogrammed box is extremely limited

Reverse the engine direction and see if that doesn't fix the issue.

Thanks for replying. Reversing the direction would allow me to run at the lower predefined settings for reverse in a fwd direction but if I hit reverse, we'll the vehicle would go out of control.

My question is can you build custom settings to input to the speed controller beyond the few pre defined settings the programmer has. Perhaps a place to get customized firmware?

I'm guessing whats happened is your motor is running in reverse now which is why your forward speed is slower than it should be because when you pull back on the trigger the ESC is actually using the reverse speed. If you swap your motor direction then it may fix the issue and make it work right.

Not that I'm aware of.

Maybe I've stated this poorly. Vehicle runs fine as is. Fast as %$#@ in forward. Can set reverse to different speeds with programmer no problem.

I posted to see if anyone knows how to put custom settings into the esc beyond what the programmer has to offer because I want to slow fwd speed to 20% so I can use it for some testing of a project I'm working on.

The vehicle is way, way way too fast. Simple gear change won't work. I need to slowdown The motor.

Yes I'm familiar with that but I'm not running it with the transmitter. I'll be connecting it to a microcontroller. I'm sure the esc is capable of being programmed to different powerboats, it would inside some type modified configuration of the programmer. A hack if you will

Yeah, I totally misunderstood what you were trying to ask. Higher quality ESCs will have that level of programmability but the only way you're getting that into a Spektrum ESC would be to flash a 3rd party firmware to it but I've never seen anyone do that with an RC ESC.
