New to RC boat.Got my second boat Sonicwave 36.Other got it sailed in the waters, fantastic run.At the end got it near the shore and suddenly noticed no power.Luck to pick it up and noticed no propeller. So propeller lost. Now not sure just to replace propeller or propeller plus flex shaft as seeing just a whole and no end out to thread new propeller. Please advice.Pictures attached.

Yup. Looks like the flex shaft might have taken off with the prop on a reverse move. You'll have to take it apart snd see what parts left you.

Also what I did have done wrong for this to happen and how could I prevent it in future.

If I had to guess, the motor has a coupler on it that accepts the flex shaft. Either that coupler came off the motor, or the flex shaft slipped out of the coupler. My bet is the coupler is still there because it is probably too big to fit into the tube the flex shaft goes through. So I would start with disassembling whatever mounts that tube from the boat. That may require removing the motor. Take some pics of the inside of the boat and I can give you some things to look at removing. I don't have any boats except a small Chinese one. But I have a general idea of the mechanical parts of them based on that one.

And yeah, NEVER order from Active Powersports. They are scam artists. Good catch Lost!

I did make one order through them when we first got started and didn’t know any better 🤣 ordered 4 gallons of nitro from them. 2 weeks and hadn’t heard anything from them, the third week I was about to go through trying to cancel it and get refund and the fuel showed up on the porch 🤷‍♂️

Well that's good to know. But if you check them out on the Better Business Bureau's website, there are a number of people that have reported them. And they have an F rating.

Yeah I started looking around into them after my order and saw the horror stories. That’s why I mentioned it here.

I wouldn’t recommend them but I can’t say they screwed me. I’m dumb enough I would probably order fuel again from them because they had free shipping on it and not the stupid high hazmat shipping everyone else has 😂 I just know to order it much sooner then I need it 😂.

Edit: to my understanding they are a 1:1 performance shop and not really an rc shop? They don’t have any physical inventory and just source it as ordered?

Yeah, as long as you use paypal, it's probably worth risking it for a good deal.

I didn't know they were a 1:1 shop. That kinda explains things a bit.

Yeah and I wouldn’t go trying to order some hard to find parts they show “in stock”.

I would suspect the parts for this horizon boat that OP has are easily sourced elsewhere

If it's new, it is under warranty. I meant to mention that in my previous post, but while typing my reply... SQUIRREL!

@bill257 - if you recently bought that boat, Horizon Hobby will warranty the parts more than likely.

Welcome to RCTALK.COM site Bill! That's a cool looking boat you've got there! Hopefully after you've got it repaired, we'll see a video or 3 of it running!
Good luck with your repairs!!!

Oh I do not know about warranty.I can check with them.Second flex shaft is on back order on most sites including Horizon.Anyone can guide me to a website where it is available.Heavy duty flex shaft available at most sites but not the one I am looking flex.I think difference in heavy duty is that it is rigid and not flexible while the other is flexible.Am I correct here.Any difference between the two in sailing.I checked coupler is intact.
