I've had a lynx 3d radio for a few years now. It's been good but a few minor faults with the radio system. They were my fault, everything works fine, they just bother me. So yesterday I decided to pm a representative of Hitec who was on rctech.net and ask him if they would fix it or the cost to fix it.

I've had my Lynx 3D for probably a good 3-4 years (I think, it was a LONG time though). It's been pretty good to me, but there's two things wrong.

1st one: It was probably my fault, but at some time, I had the part the antenna screws into strip, so the antenna screws in forever. The antenna doesn't fall out or anything though.

2nd: This was definitely my fault, but the receiver wire scraped the ground when i was running my nitro tc3 and it got some of the wire exposed. I wrapped it in electrical tape and it's been fine ever since.

I completely understand if you say no on this, but would there be any way to get it under warranty? If no, how much would it cost to get both these less than perfect things fixed?

Hello

Just send the equipment to me (to my attention) with a note reminding me what the problem is with them and I'll take care of it for you. Make sure you also include your return shipping address with it.

Now a certain thread comes to mind, I won't say it, but I will say that it's better just to be honest with a company. Plus, you don't get it on your conscious about lying (bad karma).

Good for you! Goes to show this site that Honesty is key and though you may not get what you want all the time but its better to be honest than a liar.

Let us know how it all goes after!

I think sometimes we don't want to give manufacturers any credit. yes, they are in business to make money. To a great extent anyway. But I think a lot of them are hobbyists at heart and want promote the hobby and good-will within it. You were totally honest with him. And he still said he'd gladly take care of it. That scores big points with me. Good customer support is as valuable if not more valuable than great product.

Thanks for the story. Props to you for being honest about what happened and to Hitec for taking care of the problem free of charge.

You know, i'm gonna be buying a new radio sometime before summer (hopefully). I was actually planning on buying a JR XS3, but i'll probably look at Hitec products a little more closely. It really is impressive to have really good customer service.

Excellent. I think we all know that 'other' thread you referred to. Being honest and polite is ALWAYS the first thing to do.

I don't!!! What was the other thread??!!!

New products, great features, and reasonable prices get new customers.
Great service keeps them.

Its a known fact that it costs 4-6X the amount of money for a company to get a new customer then it does to keep an old one.

It how much has JR spent on advertising to get you to think about their radio?
How much will it cost Hitec to keep you?

I wanna say RC vendors are like cops in a way...............they have heard it all! So a little bit of honesty goes so far with cops and RC vendors :) Good job Kwizong.

Kudos bro! To me, customer service is at the very top of the list. If service sucks, whether it be a restaurant, a retail shop, or whatever I don't give return business. It feels good to give the business to those who earn it.

Don't you love when people feel your pain and do what the hitec guy did? Some people like the guy at my old LHS just wanted my money... so i am glad that i moved.

All in all, being honest NEVER hurt in any situation. The outcome depends on how you present the problem and what tone you use. Remember, nothing good EVER comes out of yelling or bashing someone. You can't make them see your point, you can only present it and hope they understand it.

Lying only gets you instant gratification that needs to be nurtured by remembering your deceit. Being honest will always be easier to remember and you never look like the fool because there's nothing to be caught in later, only the truthful facts.

Good for you Kwong!
