What's Ferritin? I'm assuming too much is bad?
Ferritin is protein that stores iron in your body. It controls the iron level.
Hemochromatosis "iron overload" is what it is and if not controlled, it damages my liver.
It's a uncurable condition. I'm checked every three months.
If Ferritin is 50 or above I give blood, 50 or below I'm good.
30 to 300 ng/mL is normal for a man. I was almost 1000 when first discovered.
It really sucks because my blood is so thick, they have to use a needle the size of a drinking straw seems like.
A couple times they had to draw it out with a huge syringe.
I'm weak as hell for a couple days afterward.

How much blood do they have to take when your iron is too high? Is it like a dialysis thing or they just drain you down a bit?
They drain it down a pint.

Congrats on keeping the vampires at bay! 😍
