So, how much money have YOU wasted in rc?

well to me, money towards rc's is NOT wasted. But thats just my opinion!! haha

Wasted....very little. Spent? Who really knows? I have been in to it for 6 years.....between boats, planes and vehicles....well over $5K but under $10k (I think).

wasted...maybe about 500. spent easily over 10k in the past 6 yrs. thats between a large scale, motorcycle, planes, heli, on-road offroad. holy cow. if my wife reads this i'm dead.

I've wasted time by doing things wrong. But the money spent has always been well worth it. Best investment yet is that tube of rtv I bought a year ago. If people would just listen when they're told to seal their engines...

I wasted a lot in the beginning due to the vehicles I bought. The first few years were a learning experience. Learning about the hobby and learning about what vehicle would work best for me.

In the 8+ years I've been doing this, I'd have to assume I'm over the $5K mark as well. I've had 13 or 14 RC's and have gone through 16-17 engines and who knows how much fuel/glow plugs.

Just currently I have 4 RC's. Aftershock, savage, jato and micro-t. To replace those along with the parts/radio I have would be probably $1000 for the aftershock, $800 for the savage, $450 for the jato and $175 for the micro-t... wow... that kind of made my stomach hurt!

I used to keep track in a spreadsheet to compare what I bought, what it should have cost and what I got it for on ebay or on sale. I just checked the sheet and it's at $7,600 total retail on list and $6,400 for what I paid. I stopped putting stuff in that list though 3 years ago and I've had 1 1/8 buggy not on that list at all that I no longer have and it's missing quite a few aftershock upgrades, the jato entirely and my current savage entirely... so hmmm... I'm pretty sure I've cleared $10K!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

$$ wasted in RC = $0.

If I thought it was a waste then I would be in a different hobby.

You don't waste money once you learn what you are doing. Then it's money well spent.
I have wasted a lot of stuff due to trial and error. The worst is rushing through a repair and making a simple mistake that causes more damage.

$0, in today's high stress world you can't put a price on relaxing personal enjoyment!

A BIG +1 on that buddy! I have spent about $5 K in the past 2 years on this hobby and don't regret a bit of it. My RCs keep me sane when I'm at home between jobs and they give me something to look forward to and plan when I'm on the road. My next build will be a 5B! I can't wait to get started. That will also move the $$$ spent up to about 7k.

I haven't wasted on cent on rc's! Even the costly learning experiences were worth it once I learned wtf I was doing

I've spent about £500-£700 so far, and i have only been in the hobby for just over a year :) A lot of that was spent on parts for the XTM Rage

$80
Integy piggyback shocks. :D
Nice...Good fricken call Lessen! Yeah I will agree with you on that one brother!

I did a little figuring earlier.....I am a bit over the 10 grand mark over the last 6 years. Damn it..AND now the wife is no longer talking to me...lol Somethings... money just can't buy

Well, all I can say to anyone reading this and saying "WTF!!!!", don't buy cheap out of the gate. Ask around and see what's worth it's salt before dropping $ on it. Chances are, someone has had the same quandary and can guide you either to or away from what your looking at.

IME, when buying nitro engines, go for ones near the $200 mark if it's a BB and $150+ if it's a small block. Sometimes you get lucky with those $100 engines on ebay... but there is a higher likelihood you will end up with a $100 paperweight.

stay away from kyosho imo pretty kits but no hop ups and expensive

I don't have as much experience running nitro as Olds but I can tell you my $180 entry level RB .21 has been the most consistant engine I've ever had.
