Has this happened to any of you? The battery was working just fine. I run it in my SCX6. All of a sudden it stopped. I hooked it up to my charger. 1st and 2nd cell are at 3.79-3.80v and it's not registering the 3rd cell. I used my volt meter and the whole battery is pushing 9.6v, which means the 3rd cell is at 1.6v.

I am assuming this battery is toast?

Charger is only reading the battery as a 2s. Yea could be a bad cell. Bad solder internally in the radio or possibly could be the balance wire.

I'd personally just get a new battery. Opening up a battery and trying to fix it is risky.

Yeah, i know it's a bad cell because I was reading overall 9.6v, which means the 3rd cell is at 1.6v. With the price of these batteries, it's hard to get past the denial stage.

Have you contacted SMC? Bad cells will happen with any battery; we have experienced this issue with many different companies. Nature of the batteries. My guess is that SMC will take care of you.

I purchased them last February, so they are outside of warranty. I'll just have to let it go.

Check that balance connector for damage or see if one of the balance wires is partially pushed back in the connector. WF had one like that one time and all I had to do was to remove the wire from the housing, pry up the little metal tab that keeps it from sliding out of the connector and then reinsert it.
