Hi Nitro RC friends,

I have some advice on the following. So I've recently removed slipper clutch and spur gear due to vehicle to inspect due to poor acceleration from idle. I can hear nitro engine response to throttle but not grinding noise and no acceleration.

Following issues:
1) spur gear appears to have some teeth but can tell shave off top bit, not pointy anymore. Is there life left or should replace with steel version?

2) I've notice some play in slipper clutch assy, is that normal? see video

3) wheel wobble? any thoughts on fix see video

your help appreciated!

That gear is junk.
I would guess your mesh was off and that is what fried it.
The play in the transmission might be able to be shimmed but it looks like a lot of movement. Worn parts are likely. I would def address that before it gets worse.
The wheel wobble, I'd inspect the hub carrier and bearings. Possibly the wheel and hex also.

Wobble in a spur can be normal. Pics of your setup? Older peg style setups could have damaged pegs causing slippage. Newer style clutches may need to have a rough sand paper to rough up the glazing. Sometimes the clutch plate will also need polished so to speak.

Pics ain't working. When I said wobble I was talking about similar to a bicycle wheel. That in and out is no good

For the wheel wobble check shims and bearings.
i did provide a vid, did you get chance to click on it. utube clip of wheel wobble.

when you said spur gear is junk, it should be pointy right? not flat on each teeth? So it's basically stripped is what you're saying... I have steel ones on order

I belive that is correct. The flattened off area looks pike it might have been caused by your motor moving and the gear became out of adjust also

yeah looks like shave off the tip due to poor alignment but funny thing is engine mount is fix? i didn't move the engine mount, unscrew the four each corner remove engine, not slotted should go back in alignment as before. see pic attached

Vibration will loosen screws. Motor alignment is something to keep an eye on as well as tightness of ALL hardware on a nitro car.
Also, with the transmission shaft loose, there could be other things happening too.
The screws are loose now and with a new spur gear, you'll want to reset the mesh anyways.
