We knew we had a adult possum in our yard. Didn't know we also had a baby. Well, a young one.

My heart felt 'thanks' to ANYONE who adopts a dog that's having a bad life or stuck and abandoned in a shelter.
I never wanted another dog after I lost Rolex, but about 3 years later when the lady looking to get rid of a dog dragged her out from under the bed shivering and shaking I had a hard time turning her down, but I did.
A few weeks later she attempted suicide and her mother told me to come and get the dog. The lady had told them she wanted me to have it. If her elderly parents got it, it would live in a cage. No way. I carried her home, skinny and scared, and 2 hours later here she is sleeping at my feet.

I'll join in. I live on a farm so lots of animals/pets! 2 dogs, 2 cats, 2 horses, 14 black angus, and 36 chickens.

Here's my dog Timber, a Rhodesian Ridgeback. Basically 105 pounds of muscle on 4 legs! He's great for herding cattle!

...and the most recent addition to our pets, it does not have a name yet (Just hatched an hour ago). There are 36 chickens on our farm though with a few more expected over the next 36 hours!

Those ridgebacks seem like great dogs. My friend has a pair of males that patrol his farm. I feel sorry for anyone who attempts to trespass.
They are such great and loyal dogs! A little stubborn if you give him a command he doesn't want to follow, but we've come to "an understanding". He doesn't have the same understanding with anyone else and may not follow their commands.

Timber's a gentle giant though! There's not a mean bone in his body! He knows how to herding cattle but doesn't nip at them. He'll let the 8 pound cat sleep on his belly, and he'll lay down in the chicken run and let the birds jump all over him.

Just looking at him though, he's intimidating in person!

Those Ridgebacks are some impressive animals! I had a boss thst invited a bunch of folks out to his cabin in the middle of nowhere. It was a big shooting party, and we all stayed very clear of the cabin, which had a pen attached to it with 6 of them.

You could easily tell if you got thrown in that pen I mentioned above, you wouldn't last 30 seconds. Scariest dogs I have ever been around.

The first time i visited my friend, he warned me not to get out of the car until he came out because of the dogs. I didn't think much of it since I'm a dog person and most all of them love me.

I pull up and didn't see any dogs, put the car in park, grab my door handle and I look out my window to see both his ridgebacks at my door, their heads level with mine, just staring at me. One of them let out a little growl when my door handle clicked. I opted to wait for my friend to come out.

5 years later, they love me, we get along great, I bring them treats when I come to visit, but I still don't dare exit my vehicle until the owner comes out.

Ha! Yes ridgebacks are very imposing creatures!

Timber is such a gentle dog though, my family and neighbors have no fear of him as he's just a cuddly giant!

I have no doubt if I was being attacked (because I've seen him go after a raccoon) he would be the first to come to my defense and it would not end well for the other person/animal, but in any normal situation he's just a teddy bear!

So beautiful though, and the redness in his coat is amazing in the sunlight!

My cousin and I walked up by my boss's cabin to meet him and his wife after we pulled in to the property. He warned me right away to stay away from the cabin, because the dogs had a door to go inside, and they have been known to come charging out at people. After the chill that ran down my spine went away from witnessing how aggressive they were, I could only assume those people were either buried out back, or became fertilizer in the dogs' pen.

I had a large Alaskan Husky that was like that when I was a kid. His name was Silver. I was untouchable, and he would quickly make that clear to anyone or anything that got remotely aggressive around me by getting right between me and them with his tail all flared up and ears leaning forward. But he loved everybody, and never even once growled at anyone. He did bring down a huge Saint Bernard that approached me one time though. He got him by his throat and had him on the ground before I could get off my bike and pull him off of him. That was the only time he ignored a command from me.
