SCX24 vs FCS24 With Portals

I was about to start my 24 fabrication and I was deciding to go with the SCX24 or the FCS24 with portals.
Anyone have any experience with the FCS24 portals?

Fcx axels are great. Especially if you can get the max smasher axels. They come with all the metal gears.

And the fms axel shafts are 3mm. Not 2mm like scx shafts.

What is the width difference if the FCX24 and SCX24 front axles? Can someone measure across the hexes for me? I have a custom build I want to start soon.

I do not have a FCX yet but the SCX is about 89mm.

No rush man. I was just thinking about my 6x6 build the other day and may opt to use the FMS portals. The Smasher ones are awefully pricey though.

I'm not sure how all that works but if you go with the FMS portals you may have to adjust your gearing. I think portal gearing is different than standard. Anyhow I'll measure those for you tonight or I will forget.

You are correct @Doom! Portals are geared down, so in order to keep up the speed you need a bigger spur.

Axial SCX24 Jeep wrangler JLU front Axle measurement.

FMS FCX24 Power Wagon front axle measurement.

Thanks bro. So that would probably be ok. I don't want the track width to get too wide, and that would actually be narrower than the Carnage with the flipped RC4WD spoked wheels and Treal +5mm hexes I think.
