Picked up an SCX24 4Runner to have something small to run indoors in the winter and to build out slowly over time as I learn the ins and outs of micros.

First thing I had to do though was get it on a radio I actually like. Nothing wrong with the stock SLT2, but I like more capable radios and I prefer not to have 1 radio per vehicle. But it had to be small and easy to drive 1-handed, so I've used my FrSky TWIN X-Lite S game controller style radio which I use for my micro planes and DLG's, with both throttle and steering on the right hand side. For space reasons I used an old Archer R4 receiver I had lying around rather than my usual Radiometer ER3Ci 3ch surface receiver (also I don't have an ELRS Module normally mounted on the TWIN X-Lite)

ESC is an Injora MB100 and I added Injora brass knuckles at the same time (not pictured).

Thanks.

I’m not going too wild on this. Some new wheels and then I’ll upgrade the steering package when the servo dies. Probably will need a new motor once that’s done.

Keeping it Class 1 though

Everyone always says they are gonna take it light and the next thing you know your $300 in and have a totally bad-A rig 😂

Man, that's actually a pretty cool idea using a dual stick. 4 wheel steering would be a hoot on it. Then ya got plenty of channels, channel mixing fir days, etc. You could go nuts.

The only thing I ever say to people anymore is for SCX24's, just build it from aftermarket parts. But too late lol. But eventually, you find yourself with a very nearly complete SCX24 broken down into Plano tackle boxes 😄

You're off to a good start. But with weight comes a dead servo and motor. So those would be next on my list if you haven't grabbed them already.

Gonna keep it simple... thats what I thought too... then I ended up building a whole 1/24 from MEUS parts.🤣
I have about 3 of those builds. Keep it simple... then out of nowhere, $400 24th scale RC truck, not counting the original truck.

Y'all are just makin' things up, these little guys can't cost that much....wink, wink.

Yeah. Exactly. I have two that I had to stop on and check my head after I added up the parts list. As soon as I forget the current value in parts, I can let myself continue 😁

I'm about to make an order for 2 sets of meus iso axles, a chassis and a transmission.
I have a transmission, shocks, links and god knows what else on the way already.

These 24's are like Crack. Seriously.

@Doom! , I'm almost done with a few scx24 things for you. Just been slow with the holiday 😎

That's why I have fought the urge to follow @Doom! down the 1/18th scale rabbit hole. He took one step and fell into an evil lair of temptation. He climbed back out a year later clutching like thirty 18th scale tiny trucks and talking to imaginary cats he said were feeding him monkey bread. He also developed a nervous twitch that makes him walk funny 😄

I got into the scx24's after seeing @Doom! Collection and his deadbolt's.

Thanks @Doom! Most fun I've had with rc in a long time 😎

Yeah, they are fun little guys. What got me is you can build them into anything you want. Semi, tow truck, jeep, etc. The upgrades are endless.

Well, I’m definitely already planning my next build, this one is to keep me driving in the meantime.

Probably will build a class 2 rig next, all from components.

And yes, I do want to tryout 4WS with my stick radios, but probably will do that first on a 1/10 scale setup (which I run on my larger X18 radio converted to all 4 axis sprung)
