XXX-T Brushless? Good? Bad?

Any one know anything about the Losi XXX-T Brushless? Any good? I want an electric truggy and I do want a brushless motor, but do not want to spend the big bucks on doing it all seperately. I want to be able to go about 45 mph. Does any one know if they are that fast? I want to show up my friends who have nitro 1/8 vehicles that it can keep up. I hope it will. I also have 1/8th nitor vehicles but I do like electric's reliablity and less maintenance. Any idea's?

Wait for a Losi owner to respond to this, but I once owned a XXX-NT for a short while, and man, it DID move.
If you're looking to save a few bucks, look into buying a used roller and going brushless.
The electrics, properly set up, will outrun nitros.

I had a xxx-t about 2 years ago with a brush set up in it and it was almost able to keep up with my evader with a dtx 18 in it, so I'm sure the brushless will work plenty fine.

I had one of the last XXXT's sold by Tower (around the time Losi decided to become a Horizon-exclusive brand). I didn't have a brushless set up in it, but it was plenty fast. Even with a standard stock motor (P2K pro) in it.

I ended up trading it for an RC10T3 Factory Team (straight across, roller for roller), largely because I couldn't get it to hook up no matter how hard I tried. That, and I didn't like the design of the differential (those goofy cone-shaped washers made a proper assembly/adjustment very difficult).

One of the key things you'll need to keep an eye on is the diff. If it slips even the least, it will loosen, and begin a literal slippery slope of wear and tear.

Aside from that, Losi's are a good quality truck, and should make anyone happy.

So should I go with the RC10GT for a basher/racer to take on the 1/8 scales, or should I stick with the Losi?

I just did not want to pay to upgrade the RC10 to brushless, don't you have to change the whole set up? It would probably be an additinal $300, right?

I think you can get an RC10T4 in a brushless trim. Personally, if I were to pick between an XXX-T and a T4, I'd go the T4.

Now, as for racing it against an 8th scale..... That's like racing F1 formula cars with a pinto. Very fragile, but you'll get one heck of a turbo boost if you get hit from the rear.

You'd be wiser to invest in an actual 8th scale buggy in RTR trim.

I already have 2. 8T and a 8B. My point was to show then that electrics can be as fast as 1/8 scales. They think that electric's are not that good, and I miss mine. I started into nitro this year and don't get me wrong I am not sorry, but you have to do a lot more maintenance and tuning and repairing everytime you go out. Sometimes I am stuck without anything to drive. So I wanted a electric stadium truck that would handle the terrian we play on and be able to keep up. I want to show them that they are just as fun. And if I could beat them around our track set up, I would be the man. LOL.

Ah, perfectly understandable. Hands down, you might be better off with a 4wd buggy, such as the RC10B44, with a good brushless/lipo setup.

^^ditto...the stadium truck will get out performed in handling on the track.....a 4wd buggy/truggy with BB power can handle rougher terain adn still take the abuse of the driver.....

BB power?

Won't the staduim truck handle more bashing (bigger rocks/debris/...etc) and jumps better? I know the 4wd buggy will handle better, but the terrian we play is far from a track smoothness or rock free. Does anyone make a electric truggy 4wd?

Ok it is down to these two. I know the VXL is faster, but which one is better quality? I really like Losi, my friend who has a REVO 3.3 I really hate. I would never buy one. Makes me kind of iffy about a Traxxas. I need your guys input on which one is better quality. I am leaning towards the Losi, but I do not know how tough the Rustler is. I see people all the time buying parts for Traxxas and the LHS says they break real easily. Please I need input. Thanks guys!:bowtothercnt:

I have a MF XXXT that has a Mamba Max, and I work at a hobby shop that sells a lot of Traxxas here is my input.

XXXT
The truck is awesome, a lot of adjustability, and a made to race chassis make for a great responsive and reliable Truck. However the brushless system that comes with it is not nearly as reliable as the VXL, I have seen 2 of them with arming issues, One of the ESC's melted to the chassis after it armed. This brushless system isn’t all that impressive(fast) just efficient.

Rustler
A very reliable and beefy truck, abundant upgrades, and the ability to find parts anywhere help make up for the trucks poor race performance and adjustability. The VXL brushless system has so far been great, just don’t use the new traxxas plug it is pretty much junk. But the truck is clunky and not very elegant.

IMO a good truck is always better that a fast motor. I would recommend doing what I did, Buy a good truck like the XXXT and a good brushless system like the Mamba Max, and have the best of both worlds. And Rolex's idea of buying used is awesome. My used rtr XXXT with a new Mamba Max system, and 3600 Intellect pack was about $440. The Brushless XXXT with the same battery comes to about $420 so there isn't a huge difference in price but there is in performance.

If your going to race the Losi is a better truck IMO. If your bashing I would get the Rustler.

From what you said about your track it sounds like you need a monster truck.

No actually the track that we set up is a real fast long track. If I new how to down load my video of it I would. The moster trucks do well, but the buggys and truggys own all. I had so much fun on Tuesday out there. I really want a 4wd truggy 10th scale (or bigger) that is electric. How come no one makes a 4wd electric truggy?

Rustler VXL

Lot of People are always asking whats better in RC cars/trucks. I was told once by our Guys at the LHS that run Nitro's 1/8 trucks its not the vehicle that wins the races its the DRIVER. VXL Rustlers are good for racing just go to youtube and punch in VXL Rustler you'll see vids on the VXL kickin some 4wd Nitro butt. Like i was told its the DRIVER that wins the race.:) heres a link to a Vid on youtube that shows Rustler taking on Losi and associated [ame]http://youtube.com/watch?v=oNa4mGk2jUc[/ame]

nice vid Addict. Looks like the Traxxas driver got a little over zealous with the power. having too much fun with the big air and wheelies and blew the lead..

Like i was told its the DRIVER that wins the race.

This is true but if you take two drivers with the same driving skill the one with the better truck will win. Out of the box the Losi is more adjustable and will handle better than a Rustler. I have had both so this is not a guess or something I read or was told.

BTW Losi has a new beast out, check out the Losi Speed T

Saw that. I didn't look too fast in the vid clip they had. I was not too impressed. Maybe the price on the XXXT will come down some.

I agree with driver wins most of the races, but then again if someone is riding a Huffy in a "tour-da-France" race even though he is a good cyclist, or even the best cyclist, I do not think he would ever win. :) LOL.

The new speed t

Well i heard that a few die hard losi fans arent happy about the new speed-t, It looks exacly like the Rustler VXl even the motor is the same color lol. I'd buy a losi chassis just for racing and throw my VXL system in it, but there to pricey for the chassis, so people on a limited budget are gonna pick the VXL cause its cheaper. And i love the 70mph the rustler does lol. even though i havent hit it yet not sure i wanna to much damage if you hit a curb at that speed lol
